A nice pair of BMCs.

The one on the left has Mavic SLR wheels, X0 9 speed, Dome cassette, XTR cranks, DT Swiss forks. Dead on 10 KG if I stick skinnier tyres on, (without tool bag and water bottle).

Big wheels on small bike using road tyres

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I decided to see if the wheels off of my 29er would fit on my 26" hardtail using 23mm road wheels.
Super motard! the frame could accomodate a much bigger tyre but there is far less clearance on the forks, maybe 15mm from tyre to arch.
It was too late to try it on the road this evening but I'm looking forward to hitting the west coast highway on the 23mm wide 700c tyres at 90 & 110 psi.

29ers dead?

First round of 2012 XC World Champs won on 650B wheels. Latest fad? Best compromise between 26 and 29" hoops? Are 29ers dead? Already?

Discuss.

So there was this thread started by someone who wanted to buy Ortleib panniers, and they couldn't buy them from the usual UK suspects anymore cos the Oz distributor has got to them, and stopped them shipping to Oz. So I suggested some German online retailers instead... then all of a sudden... poof - the thread disappears completely!

Best value 29er tyre? (for front)

Hello there fellow mountaineers

Firstly, this is my virgin post! Yay!

Secondly, but more importantly... I am looking for a new front tyre for my giant talon 29er

What are the good options out there, mainly looking for opinions from 29er experience (from perth riders) due to the different contact patch but any advice would certainly be great.

I want to keep (for now) the kenda small block 8 at the rear for cost and experimentation purposes.
