Why the Angry Doctor was Cancelled

Buck posted this on FB:

Princes hwy mogo. This fell down as we rode to the re start. A car only JUST stopped in time.

Yeah - you can't blame the organisers for cancelling an event through a forest if the trees are just going to fall over randomly! Sad

Cape to cape mtb race, Margaret river region, Oct 2010

has anyone here participated in this race in previous years? I'm somewhat of a newbie and am wanting to hear first hand experience of the level of technical difficulty, the training required, how well the race is organised and any tips and traps on offer. Thanks.

No on-course water at Back Yamma Bigfoot

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I put in an email to the organisers asking where the water stops would be, and got the following response. Haven't done a 50km before so not sure if this is an issue:

I hope this doesn't throw a spanner in the works, but we won't have any
water on the course. The only water stop will be at the event centre for
those doing the 100km. We are trying to minimize costs. However, if we
receive enough requests for additional water stops we'll look into
including another one next year. The course is pretty fast and not too

word of warning Angry Doc is very very hard

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Well with the Angry Doc just around the corner I have been thinking about the angry doc a bit lately.
from the two previous times I have raced this it has hurt me big time. Cramps were my biggest enemy.
Now its not like I don't do much racing so I know a bit about pacing myself and training, I thought i would give a couple of words of advice to help people get through the day.

Cobra Mountain - Narooma trails

As an alternative to the Highland Fling, I'm looking at the Red Belly/Cobra Mountain events run by BlackHeart out at Narooma. The spiel says that Bodalla State forest has "some of the best mountain biking you'll find anywhere".

Can anyone confirm what the tracks/trails are like out thata way...?

Check list for hardware to take for my first 100km (Angry Dr.)

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Now, first off, I'm aware I've picked a very, very bad race for my first 100km. I'm trying to do what I can to get myself conditioned for the race.

I'm turning my mind to making sure I've got sufficient supplies for the race. I'm preparing a check list and was hoping some of you kind people could comment on what I've missed off and what is over the top.

I understand this subject isn't as entertaining as a lot of websites out there (www.27bslash6.com/ being a good example), but if you could find time to comment, I'd be very grateful.
