bathurst evocities round 3
Just a heads up for those not in the know make sure you bring plenty of spares tubes patches latex stans etc as the Bathurst track is cat head Central... one trip off the track and it its all over
I had 15 catheads in my tyre after a brief off on one of the corners. They all caused air to come out upon removal and I run tubeless with caffelattex
You have been warned
Great track other wise hard to get used to the slippery decomposed granite surface ..less tyre pressure in front helps
Cheers
CX this weekend!
For those in the dark, the first round of the Manly Warringah Cyclocross Series is this Saturday at JJ Hills (pony club, BMX grounds) at Terrey Hills.
You don't have to have a CX bike as you can race your MTB and there are childrens races as well - but you DO have to bring a sense of humour and big heart. It hurts but is soooo much fun.

3 Ring Circus
So there 74 days until the 3 Ring Circus which will be Race #2 for CC.
Race/event 1 was a 4hr at Ourimbah last year just 3 weeks after getting a MTB and needless to say the single track scared the living Sh1t out of me.
After a year on the MTB I definitely feel more comfortable on it, but just what's in store at the 3 Ring? lap 1 says "fire road", and the other say a combination. Then there is "the wall" - any comments on how steep and how long?
I like the idea of it not being a multi lap event so the need to get passed and the related stress wont be there.
National Marathon Champs
Its always soooo badly advertised when compared to the 'big' events like Convict or The Fling, but I thought those that didnt already know would be interested to learn that this weekend is the National Marathon Champs in Derby, Tasmania, on the brand spanking new trails out there (which are already being talked about as the best in Australia).
As you would expect, lots of big names, and strong legs will on the start-line, and I have no doubt it will be a massively hard race.
Races for kids?
Hey guys
Are their any clubs out there who run races for kids ?
I need to find some races for my 9yo to do. HE done the 20km race at the Husky100 at the weekend and was going really well in the lead group until the sign vandal got him seriously off course and had to wait for mum to catch up....
Snowy Mountain Mountain Bike Festival
My mates and I did this at the weekend - an excellent event that I'd definitely do again. The two day, 4 stage format makes a nice change from the 100km events.

Keep a look out for it next year as it could do with a few more entrants.
Jason English Helmet Cam
Just watched this video Jason English took of his first lap last week at the Ginja Ninja at Orange with his heart rate, power, cadence etc showing along the bottom of picture. Hopefully the link works.
I know I always feel like I’m going to drop dead in the first half lap of any of these races with my heart jumping out of my mouth so it was refreshing to see Jason had his heart doing over 180bmp for more than half the lap and his breathing sounded just like mine.

OMV Short Course Series
Well the Hornsby MTB community has had breakthrough after breakthrough. After much opposition to our cause, we finally got the go ahead for a 3km track. Then we were allowed to build another 3km to it.
Then a bike festival was put on last month which was a roaring success.
