Convict 100 Camping Advice
I'm planning to camp with my family on Friday night prior to the race. The race website mentions premium camp sites by the river, on a first come first served basis, and that the campsites are open from 1pm. Can anyone tell me how quickly these sites usually fill up? Do people arrive before 1pm to get the best spots? I'm taking Friday off work so can get there pretty early if I heed to.
Tathra MTB Enduro postponed until June 7/8 2014
The TATHRA MTB ENDURO has been POSTPONED.
The event will now be staged on JUNE 7/8 2014.
Event organiser Andrew Johnson said rider safety and potential environmental issues were behind the decision.
“We have been monitoring the tracks and with the wet and soft soil, trees have been constantly falling,” said Johnson. “With gale force winds and more rain predicted, this is a major safety issue.”
He said the tracks have held up until this morning, but with 250ml of rain in the past month the ground can no longer handle any more water
The Common MTB Festival
Why are there so few people doing the 7 hour Common MTB Festival this Sunday at Dungog? C'mon, with the Mont cancelled surely some of you out there are up for it!
I did not get
an sms and rocked up to this after a 5am start and 3 hour drive from Sydney. Why not send both an SMS and email to be sure when cancelling the day before? Not overly impressed.
2014 Absa Cape Epic Crash Pics
I'm back in Australia now and recovering well. I had the dressing changed today and I got a good look of the damage that was done on the Stage 4 crash
I've also got my hands on the X-Rays taken and just how far the rock got embedded. They had to get an Orthopaedic Surgeon to remove it as they classed it having bone involvement and you'll see what they mean by that
The pictures are
- when the first help arrived
- in the medic tent at the race centre
- the rock they removed from my arm
- 1st X-ray of the rock embedded
- 2nd X-ray of the rock embedded
Thanks from the SXC Racing Team
Thank you everyone for all your support, encouragement and best wishes over the past week. Believe me, all the messages
Contribute to getting us up the next day, or pushing us over that final climb.
Brian is back in Oz now and on his way to recovery. I am on my way down to Port Elizabeth along the Garden Route, to eat relax and spend some time with the family.
We have caught up on all our race / stage blogs, and they are up on the www.sxcracing.com website for those that are interested.
Again thank you, and will see you again soon on our return.
SXC Racing (Brian & Wayne)
Absa Cape Epic - Stage 6 Highlights
Looked like a lot of fun on the last day
Local team SXC Racing's Wayne was riding solo after Brian's mishap earlier in the week. There's a load of guys in the same boat and he placed third in the Masters Individuals on this stage. And actually, same in overall GC in that category.
Top effort Wayne! Stay upright next year boys and you should be top 20 easy!
Absa Cape Epic - Stage 4 Highlights (& lows)
Looked like a beautiful stage today. But... unfortunately not for Sydney locals SXC Racing
If you've been following their progress, the guys have been riding strong in some hideous conditions. They were top 20 in category GC starting yesterday.
Absa Cape Epic - Stage 3 Highlights
Conditions look much improved over the stage 2. Phew!
If you're following the local team of SXC Racing, on GC they are now 19th in cat. Out of 179 starters that's bloody good! Come on boys!
Absa Cape Epic - Stage 2 Highlights
Hideous day out on the bike!
I'm not sure you can really appreciate how bad that was. Check out some stills from Twitter. Yerch!
