Beast of Seaforth

A friend of mine claims he saw a large black cat (definitely not kitty) last Wednesday morning.

It ran across the fire trail on the Manly dam loop after the Manly Vale school.

I've read some Manly daily articles about similar sightings in Frenchs Forest.

Has anyone else spotted the beast?

Mt Buller

So im down at Mt Buller for the summer season, and Buller is everything that they say it is.!2kms yesterday down Delatite trail, fast and flowing what a blast!I rode Copperhead on my Fat Bike,so it shows that you dont need rear suspension to do the trails here(though i am doing most of them on a 160mm travel trek slash). The cross country loops (gang gangs and 1 tree hill start right out of our front door.If anyone is thinking on coming down over summer i would be happy to show you around.

I always like seeing clips of the DH trail at Knapsack and this one shows much of the recent rock work.

What do I need?

Wild Flower or Acron Oval to OMV

Hi All,

Is it possible to ride from Wild Flower Garden or Acron Oval to OMV through the bush?

I don;t mind a small amount of road riding but would prefer as much as possible on trails. I noticed @hawkeye did a climb fest on the weekend that looked promising... Is there a way to get from Wild Flower to the Darri Track?

Time to Upgrade: The best "marathon" bike?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Well, I know this is going to turn into a never-ending debate, but, heck, it gives people something to do with their time, and as a bonus, it may actually give me some useful information.

The question: What is the best bike currently available (or to be available within the next six months) to be ridden by a serious contender in a mountain bike marathon?

Mark Gunter

I'm friends with Marks sister-in-law and she said Leanne would like cyclists to attend Marks funeral and is hoping for a guard of honour for him with their bikes. If you attend the funeral then PLEASE take your bikes.

It's next Wednesday at Ryde.

Just so very sad.

DH/Free ride knee pads

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any knee pads that they would recommend on getting for mix of riding: trail, DH, and free ride.

I am after a knee pad that is not so bulky but still protects you when ya fall off. Let me know what you think..

Thanks

Kevin Costner - extra end bit (North)

Has anyone else failed to notice that the top end of Kevin Costner continues on the other side of the pathway ? (heading North - yellow in pic)
It's only a short extension, but an 'A' line has been created riding the length of a large fallen tree. I just need to gain my confidence before trying as it wouldn't be pretty to fall off.
Cheers, Daisy

Video: Nine days in the Rotorua Redwoods

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi Guys

Here's my edit of the Redwoods from my trip to Rotorua in late October this year.

http://youtu.be/QRcjGC0v7ZU

This was my 3rd trip to the Redwoods and for the first time I managed to ride every day, even tho a couple were cut a bit short due to a shoulder injury from a day 1 OTB that kept getting aggravated on the XC climbs. The solution: Avoid the XC trails and pedally exits - just descend.

AYUP Battery question

I have a half epic battery - some years old now and use it as a flasher - this morning stopped flashing but will light up constantly but only in high - assume the battery is cactus/on the way out?
Just want to check if someone else has had the same as the replacement is over $100

Cross chaining

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I've had my GIant Trance 2 for almost a year now and I love it, its perfect for the Dam and also went beautifully down at Stromlo, Sparrow and Madura a while ago. Probably ride 2 -4 times a week, depending on work and weather so it gets a good going. Anyhow, I'm not too mechanically minded, but did notice the gears cross chaining under a bit of pressure, eg going up the pinches or half way up a hill, so took it to the shop to get checked.
