Hi there Steve, would really like to sign on for the mega loop (to complete the tracks we missed last week!) but I am heading north to sunny Ourimbah for the 6 hour event on Sunday. Week after could be good tho .... Have a great ride. D-on

Logan's picture

Heading to Ourimbah as well, but yeah the Sat of the Gong ride would be good.

craked's picture

Steve wouldn't mind having a crak at this ride what time did you finish up last week ?

CROMERBOY's picture

Hi Craig, we were back at the cars at 1.30pm.

We did have a few stops - it was bloody hot so.

daveh's picture

Definitely keen for this but will depend on the leave pass. With rain that rolled in as we ended last weekend's ride not much was done around the house so may end up being gardens + a bunch laps of the dam.

Any chance of a very early start?

CROMERBOY's picture

Hi Dave,
I got nothing done last weekend - not that I particularly felt like mowing lawns after that ride- I didnt nanna nap but the thought did cross my mind
Happy to move the start time to be earlier.
Going around the dam for me would be too easy to call it quits once the going got a bit tough, that hit out last week was a good reality check.

Brian's picture

Not that I'm doing the Fling but I might join you if I get a leave pass.

brakeburner's picture

same as d-0n and logan, heading up to ourimbah, but would be keen for the week after.

CROMERBOY's picture

Wow, I did not realise there were so many sadistic riders wanting to cane themselves on this ride.
Megaloop 3 might be on the horizon- it would have to be Sunday as I am on babysitting duties Saturday.
To you guys doing Ourimbah good luck.

Last chance for me as Sydney to Gong Sunday week and I would like to have decent go at it and don't fancy trying to do that after all that climbing the day before!

Would be great if we could start at somewhere around 6 - 6:30 so that we maybe finish up a bit earlier. Can I also propose that we drop the bottom section of Bare Creek, go straight to Quarry Track instead. Plenty of climbing still and that way there is a better chance of making it all the way around in time! Can always add it to the very end if anyone felt silly enough.

CROMERBOY's picture

Time changed to 6.30am.
I agree about going straight up Quarry - it would be good to actually complete the loop.
Like D.on said -unfinished business.
Paul are you ok with the early start?

ps's picture

Yes, I should be there on time.

Logan's picture

Lights, I rode into work at about that time this morning and its all good.

daveh's picture

I ride to work and leave at 5:45 AM and I turn my lights on so that cars can see me better but I don't need them so that I can see. Bring your breakfast cereal and a glass of juice.

Hooked up with you guys last week and enjoyed the company. Cramps got the better of me towards the end of the ride but we'll see how the legs hold up this time! See you for 6.30

Brian's picture

Have fun. 6:30am start is just a little crazy for me Smiling

CROMERBOY's picture

Hey guys, looks like its gonna be hot again - remember to bring plenty of water.
I will be in a red Mazda 3 not that I think there will be tons of riders there that time of morning.
See you there

I was a bit sceptical about the early start but it worked well. For those who were not able to back up this week we made it down to chiltern this time and even did the top chiltern track at the end of the road. Not sure about the trail from the lagoon back to oxford falls although I guess this means we finished the mega loop.

Keen to hear if team yeti made it round the dam.

Jason, I pointed out your rock to the guys, it looked bigger this week and the landing area looked just as hard.

CROMERBOY's picture

Hi guys once again great company.
Wow that was a tough ride, although the bad memories are fading as I sit here with a cold Stella.
Team Yeti you guys are freaks.
So glad we hit this early as it was getting really hot- I have caught a lot of sun - both arms and neck are burnt.
Paul I agree the Lagoon to Oxford falls was pretty ordinary (especially the hike a bike) might be better to hit up Red Hill and then back on the road via Oxford Falls Road if there is ever a Megaloop 3.
Anyway here is our ride - ignore the heart rate I am sure there is something wrong with it!!!

daveh's picture

Thanks again for the ride guys, really enjoyed it (easy to say after 2 beers, ask me during the hike-a-bike and it might have been a different story). Great to make it all the way around and rack up both the time in the saddle and the kms, just what was needed before the Fling. I am sure it is going to hurt but at least I think I am ready ready for the pain now!

Early start was good, reasonably cool for the majority of the ride and still home in time to get the lawns done. You Yeti boys are nuts, hope you enjoyed the extra kms!

great ride ,great company and good weather ,my first tour of the northern beaches will be etched in my memory for years, thanks guys Smiling

D-on's picture

The ride had some of everything. Some tasty single track, lashings of fire road, a double helping of hills, liberal amounts of rocky downhills, a sprinkling of technical bits and how could we forget ... a small serve of hike-a-bike. It was a great idea (Cromerboy?) to link up all that the nth beaches has to offer. And it was great to ride with a bunch of like minded souls. Thanks muchly for the company, the bike banter and some wicked riding. And max respect to Paul (PS) who smashed out the entire journey on his entry level hardtail (as his fully pimped Spec Epic was 'in the shop'). That was seriously hard core.

mtk's picture

Thanks guys, enjoyed the challenge and all that the ride had to offer. I have to say it's one of the toughest days I've had on a bike but glad to have clocked 92km by the time I rolled in the drive. A new pb on the mtb. I now have the confidence that I can at least get to the finish of my first 100! (116km???) D'on thanks for dragging me around the dam for that extra 20k........as much as it hurt.......glad to have achieved over 90 in the end.......I'll shout the drinks next time as well. Thanks also to Paul.....whatever it was in that magic cramp spray seemed to work as they didn't set in until the very end.

ps's picture

dont know whats in it but its from NZ so its got to be good. See http://www.hchformulas.com/crampstop.html for details. I got mine from a small triathlon shop in the city just near the QVB.
