Details:

This will be my last hit out before the Bottlebutt the following weekend. I will be catching the 8:23am train from Glenbrook and arriving at Woodford at 8:53am. From there my plan is to head down to Bedford Creek, up Ingar, then down Andersons back to the top of the Oaks, stop for water and then down the the Oaks back to the car. It's 77km with about 1500m climbing and 1800m descending so on average it's down hill Eye-wink. I'm thinking this would be around 4 hours once heading off from Woodford.

There's 3 Hot Laps Challenges in this ride so lets see how we go Eye-wink

Need to add a new hot lap in there - Bedford creek to the Ingar turnoff.

never been there before so will see if I can make it

Paul, if you have never done this there here's tate's profile to give you an idea of the climbing.

That first hill looks like fun.

Brian's picture

I normally start at Glenbrook so I have the Oaks in my legs first so this time Ingar should be a lot easier.

Makes the first 50k all uphill.

Why you starting at Woodford on this ride Brian?

Brian's picture

I don't feel like doing the full 100. If I get to the end and feel like more I can always go back up to the helipad and then do the single track again.

Brian's picture

Don't forget to have $4.60 for the train Smiling

Thanks for the ride today. I'm totally stuffed right now. Dave I hope you pull up ok and heal in time for next weekend.

Posted up Doc's photos. Still can't believe we didn't recognise him sitting there on the side of the trail.

Also you should be happy with yesterdays ride, averaging over 20 during a training ride is pretty good.

I felt really good on the whole ride. The only signs of cramping was coming up the road on the last bit. I'm still waiting to hear back from doc as to how he is feeling today.

Very sore today after the tumble and have been shuffling around most of the day. The wack on the thigh and the ribs are the most uncomfortable. Just hope they are not troublesome enough to disrupt next Saturday. I was thinking maybe the 1.9 Karma on the front was maybe not such a good idea.

Brian's picture

Nah, it's not the tyres but those tubes inside. Once you go tubeless you'll have no problems. I've been running them since June without issues.

ps's picture

Good to hear your walking and hope the thigh doesn't turn into a cork.
Anyway still can't believe Steve and I rode past without recognising you but you did just look like a rider taking a rest break on an uphill. It was only as I went past that I thought that it looked like your shirt.

Dave, how you getting on now?

Day three and starting to improve......yay ! A little more mobility and I am certainly not grimacing as much. I plan to do a gentle road ride tomorrow evening to see how things feel, but expect everything will be ok and hopefully just a little under par by the weekend. Will just have to put up with the sore ribs and hope there is not much need to maneuver the bike around @ Bottlebutt

The bike looks ok except for a small ding in the rim and tiny bite in the sidewall right next to the bead. While tubeless may have helped on Saturday, you don't expect a pinch @ 32psi on a firetrail. Haven't decided if I'll change it out, but I've got @ 2.2 Race King instead which would handle my weight better.

Brian's picture

It's good to hear you are on the improve. See you Friday at Port Mac.

There's a rough section not to far back from where your photo was taken that has some rather square brick like rocks in the middle of the track that might have been the problem. 35 psi seems to be the minimum the average rider gets away with on the Oaks if running tubes.
