2014 Highland Fling
Quarry and Ferndale Road, Bundanoon, New South Wales
Do the Full Fling (approx 110km), the Half Fling (approx 55km), the relay Flinging Threesome or take on the even bigger challenge of the 100Mile Fling
There is also the Casual Fling, a 14km Participation (untimed) Ride for those not feeling up to taking on the races above. An opportunity for those new to mountain biking or those less fit than they’d like to be, to get on a bike at the Fling.
The main racing is on Sunday 9th November but there’s plenty happening on Saturday 8th too including the Rolloff World Championships, the Bundanoon Dash, (including The Battle of The Businesses) a fundraising 6km ‘sprint’ race (it’s not compulsory!) along with entertainment, food & drink, gear displays, demos, Kids MTB Skills Course and more.

Hey guys does anyone want to get rid of a 55km entry for the Fling? I've been slack this year and missed the entry period and really want to kick up some dirt. If you do or know of anyone needing to part with their entry please contact me on [email protected].
Hey - the numbers are down on last year - so the event certainly isnt sold out. You might try Wild HOrizons direct first - they might waive their usual rules to get some more people in the race.
Otherwise, they could tell you about people who have contacted them with news of withdrawal....
Forecast has improved somewhat, now showing 22.
Getting quite excited, even the 3:30am wake up doesn't bother me!
Seeing as I cant ride this year and was super bummed about that.. but I did try to do my 110k's on a mountain bike last Saturday and actually think I died 4 times climbing out of cascades with 41 Deg C showing on the garmin!! but alas I came up short with heat stroke deliriums about 90 into it when the garmin read 42c.. I was kinda wishing for a mixed bag of weather for you guys.. something like a very warm 35c and 100% humidity first hour, then easing off with a cool southerly for mid 20's and some sunshine, then a little warmer but very low humidity, then a unseasonably cool change for a 5c and rainy finish..
But you'd have to be happy with the current forecast, have fun MTB peoples!
Here's an entry going

Forecast looks good for the race. But don't be surprised for it to be cool and drizzly on the start line.
No fling for me. Went for a short ride at Cootamundra track yesterday. Got a line wrong, went otb, and ended up with a broken collarbone & 5 ribs. Luckily the track is near the hospital. I don't think I'll be right for Sunday. Time of this post might give a clue about the pain.
I know it's super last minute but anyone want to sell their half fling entry for this Sunday?
There are a few on Rotorburn

LittleRed,
I have a friend selling his if you're interested.
Arrived in bundanoon nearly two hrs ago - beautiful day here. Passed the Shimano and Specialized trucks on the way through town. Are the chrome bike sculptures throughout town a permanent fixture? They look great.
Knackered.... but I finished that was one tough marathon. Is there a link to alive results somewhere ?
Well done Mario - Wild Horizons site is indicating results will be up later on this evening.
What time (approx) did you do for the full?
Results are here

Thanks Brian for the link !
Silklama my time was 6hr47min much longer than I expected. Legs were cramping hard at the 70km mark.
I thought it was 108km but it turns out to be 114km
still knackered...
