Details:

Apologies to the conflicting social ride, but 100Km races loom and no training is getting done (least not by me).

Update by popular request!

This ride will be fast and non-stop, from the Terrey Hills shops, Duck Hole, up West Head road climb, Centre, along McCarrs Creek Rd, etc. to Perimeter Trail then out to end of Long trail and back to shops.

I'd hope to be able to complete this in under 2 hours (Duck Hole/Centre is 45 mins, leaves hour or so for the other part). If we have a small, fast group then should be able to stay together at a good speed.

On the social front the good news is that we can go to the Tavern afterwards to meet with the other ride this evening and will probably see them out on the trail too.

Who's in?
Rob, Bruce

What Happened?

Were you there and have a story to tell?

if it is for training why not throw in Duck and Centre as well and push to finish both in under 2hrs?

Just a thought. I'm sure you can muster a few other roid boys and get a train going to share the work

Rob's picture

Hmmm... good point - we could start at 7 and do Duck Hole + Centre before proceeding Perimeter + Long. Anyone up for that?

I was too busy worrying about timing to finish around the same as the social one to say hi... see... it's not all roid, roid, roid! Eye-wink

christine's picture

...i nearly fell of my chair - you posted a ride!!!

Buck's picture

I can't do 7 but I am willing to do the 7:45 fairly quick.

Get the chair seen to Blondie...

I know its an antique and all, but seriously!

I could be up for this and will confirm tomorrow. I wouldn't mind starting earlier and doing Perimeter+Long+Duck+Centre.

I'm hitting Appin this Wednesday night so i can't make this week, but i'm very interested in some training paced rides (day or night).

I'm doing a solo 24 so the more km or more often the better.

Bruce's picture

I might be interested in this one if you choose the earlier option, will see how I am feeling closer to the ride.

it's a day of surprises today on the site ... First, Rob posts a ride, then Shaun can't remember what a off road night ride is and Cupcake says he is going to go along (off road) ...now all we need is George and Cecil to ride with you guys and for Ev do come on the social ride and the shock factor will be complete...

Brian's picture

Actually, at this stage I'm going to be stuck in the city working Wednesday arvo so I'm a no go for this Sad. If by some miracle I can make it I'll give you a call.

ar_junkie's picture

To be there for a good paced ride, I'll be giving it a miss this week.
Been off sick for the last 2 weeks so a night ride at this stage doesn't sound like a good idea for me...
Most annoying part is the new 'machine' is sitting inside, just taunting me, still unridden! Sad

Bruce's picture

Can we please do the early option Rob?

Rob's picture

Done - this is now 7pm start and will take in Duck Hole + Centre too. Smiling

I'm a maybe. Depends on what time I leave Crows Nest. Don't wait for me, I'll go with 7:45 pm group if I'm running late.

Thanks to Bruce for the loan of half an Ay-Up this eve... DIY lights, eh? Eye-wink Least I can take it apart and find out what's wrong. Sticking out tongue

Anyhow - mission accomplished - almost. 2h00m10s for the ride (1:56 moving though). Slight cheat as someone soft and spongy wanted to come back on the road. However, we were slowed a bit by the lack of light ('Riding by Braille', cupcake said!) and a little lost finding the way to Perimeter in the dark.

Overall, top ride though. Few more of these should make The Doctor a bit more bearable! Eye-wink

So honestly, what did you think of a single Ay Up set?

PS - the plan worked then ay Bruce? Soon Rob will do an entire ride on the road?
Eye-wink

Bruce's picture

it didn't take much convincing, he put up the usual argument for about two seconds then assumed the time trial position like an experienced roadie.

Rob's picture

Hmmmm... well - the weight of the Ay-Up is nice, but of course they can't compete on light output with my home made jobbies, even if the latter is 18 months old.

Depending on what is wrong with the DIY set it might get an upgrade. Perhaps the housing should be replaced, at the very least - the original set are certainly not as nice as Mk II.

What's annoying is that I almost brought Mk II along but because I wasn't in my own car wanted to limit the junk in the back. Doh!
