Sean's Belated Birthday Dirtworks Training Ride
West Wisemans Ferry. Turn left bottom of the hill. There's a small parking area I hope we can all fit in!
Just what it says on the related forum topic. Wanted follw Rob's ride from this time last year and look at the last section (this makes up roughly Km 72-92) of the 100Km Dirtworks course. The plan is to meet at the West ferry (turn left, not right bottom of the hill), leave cars there then cross on the ferry riding the 5Km or so to bottom of the climb so as to be warm for that. Then ride the Womerah Range trail, turn round and ride back.
The plan is to pretty much follow the route listed by Rob in the discussed topic (a bit less than 60km). Anybody who has ridden here before and would like to play tour guide it would be appreciated as I have not ridden here yet.
Although Womerah is fire trail, it has some tough climbs. Of course it's on a ridge and you have to get up there in the first place via one of these climbs:

That won't be the end of it though, there are some nasty pinches along the way in both directions.
As this is a supposed training ride please don't come planning to pootle along. Also come prepared to ride for 5-6 hours in the wilderness (we cannot count on that visit to St Albans and have to leave time for potential mechanicals) - basically that means with plenty of water and food for the duration.
Note: As this is my belated birthday ride, there will be Beer and fairy bread for all upon return to the cars!
See you there!
Were you there and have a story to tell?

spent that time waiting for me?!! He did allow a couple of eating points which was rather good!
WHY do you boys insist on these gadgets which means everyone can see everything you do?!!
I think that because I knew i was heading back to the cars I was happy to finish the ride but I wasn' t knackered so could have kept riding - obviously i will have to do more between now and the race but hey! I can only try (pray?) to finish!
My aim isn't to break any records but to finish and feel ok... but finishing is the main thing!!!
Ah... finishing is overrated
Although at DW100 there is no real bail out point which makes things slightly interesting
if i didn't finish and laid down like you did then can you imagine the flack I would get? That alone will be enough to drive me to the end of the race I think!!!
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for a great ride on Saturday.
Great ride, great company and great fairy bread (thanks Christine), what more could a person ask for.
Cheers and see you again.
Chris
