S&S C grade reversal corner

Just started a bit of work on our new DH trail. Skinny Mal and the crew have been going gang busters doing all the hard work just went up today to do a bit of the fiddly stuff.

It all starts with a fast naturally cambered section and then swings up into this corner.

This gives us a natural grade reverse to help control water but has the issue of having the possibility of water sheeting across the trail in the braking and turning zone

On Thursday 30 June 2011 a survey will go live on Council's website that aims to collect demographic and participation data from residents and visitors who ride mountain bikes in Warringah. The survey is an important component of the mountain bike research that is being undertaken by Council. It demonstrates to the mountain biking community that we are looking closely at the current and future provision of facilities in Warringah.

Picked up this frame a while ago but as I hadn't had time for DH of late it's been collecting dust.
Last week I had a bit of spare time so thought I'd build it up with parts off my old Norco in the hopes it would inspire me to get back into it.

Here's my first test ride with some self shot footage using the contour 1080p taped to trees or set up on the back of the ute and stuff.

Water Damage to the Awaba DH Trail.

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

This is a photo taken today of sediment runoff from Mt Faulk road onto the berm below the scorpion gap at Awaba. The road was freshly graded not long ago.

the sediment in here would be up to 500mm deep in the middle of the berm.

A lot of work had been done here in the past to make sure water coming from the road above doesn;t erode the trail, but we have never had a sediment deposit situation before.

In Tuesday's Mercury:

DOWNHILL cyclist Joel Willis is a young sportsman going places … and fast.

Although only 13 years of age, Joel races in the under 15 age division, but this has not been a setback for the talented rider having built up an impressive list of achievements for one so young.

He is now a State champion after contesting the Downhill NSW championships in Awaba after beating some of the best riders in Australia.
