Garmin 810 help needed

Hey guys,

I have just bought a Garmin 810 because I have the inbuilt navigation skills of a beached whale .

Can anyone point me in the right direction to be able to add MTB trails around NSW and SA that i can add to the Garmin. What websites are good for adding these files ?
Does it actually work ?
Should i just find friends out there ?

Any assistance will be appreciated

Cheers

GPS - Garmin 510, 810 or are there other options

I've been looking around on the web, but haven't really found any recent forums or reviews of GPS devices for mountain biking. So was hoping someone here could chip in with their experience.

Garmin seems to be the place to start. In their range it seems to be either the 510 or the 810 that are the most likely options.

Talking about Garmin, have anyone tried the vivoactive for mountain biking?

Which other options would you consider? If any?

Garmin 705 firmware

Does anyone have any older firmware for a Garmin 705 GPS? I've had nothing but issues with the latest two releases, and Gamin have removed the older versions from their website.

I'm looking for version 3.1

Cheers

EDIT: All good, I've managed to find it elsewhere.

Night ride lights

So with the end of daylight saving time to start thinking whether I can get my fix after the sun goes down. I'm into AM riding, preferring trails with some help from gravity. Any tips on what lights would be required, helmet mounted or bike mounted or both? Any recommendations? Thanks dudes

GPS for Offroad?

I'm thinking of upgrading my basic trip computer to a GPS, predominantly for navigation when on new off road trails. Do they work well for this kind of thing and is it worth the mega $ of something like the Garmin 1000?

Garmin gps file editor

I went for a ride this morning and about 10km in, the garmin turned off. I pulled over, restarted it and carried on. When I got home the first part of the ride isn't recognized by the either the garmin or the the conputer. (It's a Garmin 810 so doesn't carry on from the same ride like the 500, it starts a new ride.) The rest of the ride uploads fine to Garmin Connect but won't sync with Strava. I've tried manually export both the gps and tcx files and uploading to Strava but it says there is a problem.

Can anyone recommend a good gps editor that may be able to sort the files out?

Cheap Ant + head unit

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Looking for a cheap ant+ head unit that will pickup wahoo speed and cadence sensor and Ant + heart rate monitor. Doesn't have to be GPS enabled or able to map the ride or anything like that but would like to be able to see HR, speed, cadence, time on the one screen.

Garmin Premium HR strap errors.

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I have a Garmin 500 with a premium heart rate monitor strap. It sat for about a month and half towards the end of last year without use and so far this year I have errors with my HR every ride. I am getting lots of drop outs, lengthy periods where my HR only varies by one or two BPM even though I go from cruising to puffing like the 3801 climbing out of Lithgow and it tends to be registering lower that would I would expect given my lack of riding over the last couple of months.
