29" Tyre Choice

Hi,

I had a rather spectacular failure on my front tyre on Sunday. Just riding the side walk in my street at about 5kmh, sort of tried to ride off the edge of the kerb. To then wake up on the floor with a cracked helmet, few cuts and a bruised hip.

Looking to tap into some collective wisdom, I am in the market for a new bike, was looking in the 140-150mm travel range with the new stumpjumper on top of the list. That is until i came across the YT Capra which just looks like soooo much bike for your money, but have a few questions.

Most of my riding is done around the Kalamunda trails, a lot of time spent on gungin, scorpion ect, is this bike way more than is needed to hit everything there?

slashed tire

Hello everyone. So i went for a ride yesterday and at my halfway point i heard a ping from a rock flying of something, then a minute or 2 later my tire was flat. Im running tubeless so i was quite surprised i had a flat but when i looked closer the rock bounced of my rim and slashed my sidewall.

The cut is probably 1mm wide by about 3/4cm long so i though the goo should of sealed it but under closer inspection all the goo in my tire was dried up.

27.5" outside diameter cf. to 26"?

I am interested in perhaps putting a 27.5" wheel in the back of my 2011 Trance, but am confused about whether it would fit. Reason is to get the rolling advantage, and also to slacken the head angle a bit for racing.

Logic says it might not fit, given the difference between the two should be about 3/4" (or 20mm).

However, this website says a 27.5 with a Pacenti Neo-Moto 2.1 is 702mm (27.6") wide, which would fit easily:

Bottom Bracket Help

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

So I've trawled the forums and I'm pretty sure I've complicated what seems to be a very simple question.....or the plethora of information and marketing hype on the topic has consumbed me.

Eitherway, hoping the trusty folk at NOBMOB can give me a straight answer;

Simply, can I swap out a BB71 bottom bracket for a GXP compatible bottom bracket? And specifically, which GXP BB will fit a 2014 Trance 2 (if any).

rear hub choice

Hi all
I'm in the market for new hubs and would like some ideas. However they can't be too loud... or obscenely expensive either. Smiling
cheers

Specialized FSR stumpjumper carbon 2014 SRAM crankset removal

Looking to remove cranks to grease up BB. On the web appears I can use 10mm hex to remove non drive side crank, but on the bike it says "do not remove" and the drive side crank has the instructions to use 10mm hex, the direction to tighten and the torque. I am confused, which side do I loosen to remove. For some reason I can't download manuals at the moment.

Do I ignore the "do not remove" non drive side hex? I am used to Shimano not SRAM? Appreciate any advice so I can calm the creaks.

Chain ring

I need to replace my chain and cassette and jockey wheels.
My bike is only 9 months old but I guess the wet conditions in Sydney won this fight.
Now at my LBS I took the bike in and they said if I replace my cassette and chain I should be replacing my Chain rings too otherwise they cant guaranty my safety as the chain will slip..
I spoke to my mate who builds bikes as a hobby and he said its BS..

Does having to replace a 9 month old Chain Ring sound right?
