The quest to upgrade to a duallie...

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Having read the previous threads on Asylum's quest for a Trance, unfortunately I'm going to have to raise it again.

Been riding about a year now with practice rides around the Dam and more recently, Ourimbah, Appin and Yellomundie.
So a love for single tracks with a thing for smashing through downhill sections at speed, is what we ride.

Now we have the three of us wanting to upgrade to a duallie after been riding hardtail Avanti and Apollo's all this time.

Demo'd a Cannondale Rize with the Lefty and other than the issues with the gear shifts, it was a sweeeet ride.

SS Chains and Chain rings

Gday Crew

after a bit of advice about SS Chains and Chain rings
With the 'grinding paste' riding around the Northern Beaches
My stock chain rings and chain are worn and stretched
Am hoping to hop on a friends CRC or Jensons order
Was thinking a Wipperman 808 or KMC X8 chains??
and Surly Stainless Chain rings for durability??

Any ideas would be appreciated

Rucksack for 6 day ride

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi guys
me and a mate are doing a 6 day mtb ride coast to coast across Scotland in 5 weeks - 60-70km with 1000-1200m ascent per day. (5 hours on sat on the west head trails in torrential rain was probably great training !!)
I need a good mtb rucksack which is 25L-30L large to carry spares/gear and spare clothing (hopefully carrying only 7-8kg plus water bladder each). (we are staying in guest houses and hostels en route). I have done some preliminary research and possibles are Deuter Transalpine Alpine 30L ; DhB Elsted 30L
Just wondering whether anybody had any good suggestions
Cheers

Help please: which lefty fork?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi I'm looking to upgrade the lefty on my old faithful Jekyll 800 with a better (used) fork. I'm wondering which is the better overall package - the TPC or SPV?

Currently it has a plain vanilla 130mm Lefty with rebound adjustment only. It's rather bobby on the climbs. Not a major issue as I mostly climb seated, but I've just acquired a Manitou 3-way so i'm looking to match a fork to it.

Disc brake rotors

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Well after still having problems with excessive pad wear I'm now contemplating changing disc rotors.
See my previous post for details on the pad wear problems http://nobmob.com/node/8818

A 10km ride this week on a wet track has worn through 50% of my sintered metal pads. And I certainly wasn't dragging the brakes or using them a great deal. By the end of the ride the pads had worn so much that the brake lever was squeezing all the way to the bars before the pads were engaging.
