Maxxis Ranchero Tyres
Does anyone use or has anyone used Maxxis Ranchero tyres?
I'm going to convert to tubeless next week and I was in my local bike shop today talking about it with them and they said the Maxxis Ranchero was a good all round tyre for the rear. Now I don't know if he was just saying that as he had a few on the shelf and he can't get rid of them, but I'd never heard of them and I certainly hadn't seen any reports on them.
I've looked on CRC website and all of the comments are good, apart from not being to good in the wet but which none wet specific tyre is!
Stem Flipping
Hiya All,
Just a couple of quick questions on flipping the stem on your bike.
What are the pros and cons for doing this ? And what do people recommend for endurance racing eg. 100km vs sprint events eg. 8hr events ?
Thanks
Evan
661 Evo Lite XC Knee Guards
Hi Everyone, first post for me.
I have recently got into riding, but have a dodgy knee thanks to one of the chain bolts on the dam. I got myself a set of the specialised knee / shin guards, and they are great for a couple of laps, but I was wanting to look at something a bit lighter, such as the 661 guard. Has anyone used them? I'd be interested to know how comfortable they are, and whether they pinch behind the knee?
Torpedo 7 has some good weekly specials (until Monday) and a 48 hour special until Friday
Highlights from the weekly special are the Camelpak Mule ($90) and the Shimano CN-7701 XTR chain ($40).
Then there is a 48 hour special ending Friday with a bunch of good specials too (gloves, shoes, socks, lube, backpacks, tools) ...
Buy I've already spent too much lately ... I'm going to bar the T7 site my computer!
Cheers

Shimano & Crank Bros Cleats.
Does anybody know if Crank Bros pedals will work with Shimano SPD cleats? I've just purchased some mallets and am wondering if I will have to use their cleats provided or if the Shimano ones already on my shoes are compatible with them?
NB I haven't bothered to actually try yet
Cheers,
Andy.
Sram 991 Hollow pin Vs Shimato XTR/Durace CN770: which is more durable?
I have always used Sram 991 Hollow Pin chains, but recently found out a new chain less than 500km use is now needing replacement.
Each Sram 991 Hollow Pin is about $60+, T7 has Shimano XTR chain for $40 - i am willing to give it ago
Anyone can give some advice about durability on the XTR chain?
Thanks.
Tien.
Schwalbe Tubes - anyone know where I can get some?
I am after some Schwalbe 20" tubes.
Particularly Schwalbe because they have replaceable presta valves.
If anyone can advise a bike shope that has them I'll be most appreciative.

Knee/shin guards
I've been very disgruntled over the past week after I scraped my knee on a very silly fall. Later on, a passing rider saw the damage, pointed to my knee/shin pads wrapped aound my camelback, and said "good thing you brought *those* along, eh!"
... the sad truth is, the pads were *ON* when i fell...
