Does anyone have a rear 12" wheel I could borrow for the Mont - or know where I could buy a 12er rim in Sydney or Canberra?

Have almost all the bits to build my 12er ... except for the rear rim and spokes.

Does anyone have a rear wheel to loan or can recommend a shop that stocks 12er items - I have a DT Swiss hub, but need a rim, spokes and tyre preferably pink..

brake disk/caliper compatibility.

i've spent all night getting the epic ready for the mont, swapped the gears over from my enduro in prep for the 24 solo's. stripped everything and put mr new whhels on( xt with xtr rotors) the brakes the rotors are going on are juicy ultimates, now there's a massive problem in that the wheels wont turn as the alu spider in the middle of the rotor which is riveted to the outer steel disk is catching on the tabs of my brake pads. it's late at night so i havn't looked at it properley but it might be a simple adjustment issue. if anyone can shed some light on the issue that would be appreciated.

durable chainrings

My middle chainring is looking very worn, ( truvativ alloy stylo about 4 months old ) I blame this on the sand and lots of puddles up Red Hill.. anyhow I have ordered a new crankset after a rock attacked my bike and destroyed the large chainring last sunday, while its all apart i was thinking of putting in a more durable middle ring, this brings me to the subject;
Looking around the interweb, I see lots of conflicting info on steel V alloy chainrings, soooo does anyone have a good practical/experienced view on the most durable middle chainring?

thanks

Chain drop from top derailler

G'Day !

Long time reader, first time blogger !

Can anyone suggest why the chain "drops" from the middle front chain ring when I go down "steps" etc.. Depending on the "drop" the chain "falls" to the smaller cog.

Any ideas ?

Cheers, Toddy

Jumping gears

As above, my gears are jumping all over the place, even with relatively low load on them. I had my bike serviced last month and so far I've taken it back three times and I'm reluctant to go back to the LBS again as I had similar problems after the first service (I wanted to give themn another chance). On the first ride after the service they were all over the place and they fixed this up in a couple of mins, subsequently I've had issues with my shocks but they are all good now.

Not happy

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Last week, at the end of a ride, I noticed a broken spoke on my rear wheel. I was unable to get to my usual bike shop so I put it in for repair at a well know bike shop asking them to check the wheel and tighten up any other spokes needing adjustment. Picked it up midweek but didnt inspect the work and went for a ride yesterday starting at Duckholes track. I was 10 minutes into the ride when disaster struck; i elected to change gear from middle to large ring which was followed by alarming noises.

tubeless wheels 20mm axle

I'm looking to upgrade my wheels to something a bit ligher (than Sun Singletracks) and tubeless.
only problem is that the front wheel has to be 20mm thru-axle compatible.
I want to spend around $600, which can be pushed up for the right wheelset.

I've looked at shimano XTs, but i haven't really heard much about them

any ideas, experiences, etc?

Cheers

Pedals

Hi All,

Can anybody recommend some good pedals that are clip-in on one side and flat platform the other? Just bought a new bike and don't want to scratch the frame like I did with my Trance when I fall off on the hard bits whilst clipped in!

I've just had a quick look at the Crank Brothers Candy and Smarty pedals on the web - are these flat on one side?

Cheers,

Andy.

what hydrolic brakes to get?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

howdy

im thinking i need to upgrade my brakes from standard cable to hydrolics

recently went to ourimbah for a ride, went down a small decline and ended up in the trees cause my brakes failed on me
ive taken it back to the shop, the guy reckons the pads have worn out.

either way, im thinking of doing a decent upgrade to my brakes and get hydrolics.

so the question is....

what should i get?

he showed me the juicy 5 brake system, but they add up to about 400$ for both, which is a bit much
are there any other options that are slightly cheaper?
