Best of both Worlds ?? - which pedal
Hi All,
Have been looking at replacing my current platform (came with the bike) pedals with something that takes cleats, but as I have never ridden with them before, thought I might get the best of both worlds by getting a set of pedals with both cage and cleats. Both Shimano and Crank Brothers have a number of models - M424, M545 and M647 (Shimano) and Smarty, Candy C and Mallet C (Crank).
DH forks, marzocchi 66 vs Fox 40's
Hi,
I'm riding a giant glory0 (the free-ride model). It currently has a pair of Marzocchi 66SL 1 ATA Air, 140-180mm. And i'm thinking of putting on some Fox 40's... Cause I reckon I would be better of with some fat double crown forks to lift the front end a bit higher...
Does anyone have any advice on this idea? Do you think its worthwhile? Are dual crown forks that much better than single??
Cheers,
Nik
Dented Crossmax XL Rim
I've just got back from a ride and found a dent in my Crossmax. Anyone had the same problems before and know how to repair it? Or is there a Mavic service centre or a bike shop that will do repairs?
Thanks in advance.
Best MTB computer?
Just wondering if any one can recommend a decent bike computer that can handle rugged conditions. Extra features such as Cadence (RPM) & Altitude would be great, without the expense of buying a Garmin Cycling GPS. What is better, Wired or Wireless?
Damaged Yeti @ Cascades
So... where is the best place to pickup a 2005 Yeti 575 rear derailleur hanger?
http://picasaweb.google.com/lozza6/YetiBrokenHanger
Somehow caught a big branch into the spokes.. and it got spun round to the top and took the whole derailleur with it.... Did not pedal but just stopped... got off to have a look....... Rear derailleur sitting on top of the chainstay... doh
Creaky cranks
My hardtail bike, a Giant XTC2, has some disturbing creaking from the cranks..
It's not the seatpost by the way...
Raceface evolve ISIS crankset and BB. Bike is a few years old now but was a regular weekend rider for 18 months or so.
Few other forums note this is common situation with this set up. The fixes didnt seem very convincing to me...
Plumbers tape on threads, various spacers used, high torque to secure cranks..
Wondered if anyone has experienced this and what they did to fix it. I am preferring a fix at the moment rather than replacement.
gps trails
hi ,does anyone have an idea where i can download gps maps of trails in nsw to a garmin.cant seem to get any from google earth and dont think the trails on this site can be done either.??? thanks bri
"Protection" for Newbie
Hi All,
New to MTB and to this site. Have had a few bikes over the years but mainly for commuting or dawdling around the beaches.
Did my first ride (walk !) of Manly Dam on the weekend and realised I have got a tremendous amount to learn. Markedly different from the ashphalt and the track is very challenging. Hence why I spent alot of my time walking. Having said that I am keen to learn and will be trying to get as much practice as I can over the coming months.
Cannondale Headshok repairs
Wondering if anyone can recommend someone who really knows the Cannondale Ultra headshok fork well. Took mine in to a shop and they said they'd have to send it to Cannondale to get it checked out. I'm sure it can be fixed but needs someone who really knows what they are doing. I'm keen to get back on the trails so any help much appreciated,
thanks, murray
