Hi All
I am looking at putting together a reasonably tough pair of 26" wheels for general trail riding & training in the local hills here in Perth.
I will be using them on a long travel fork HT & a 5" travel duallie. I would like to be able to ride drops & rock gardens without worrying unduly about punctures & splits

What changes would you make on a Trek Fuel EX 5?

What is the first item (or make it top three items) you would replace on a Trek Fuel EX 5?

I’m looking at getting this bike, but are aware that most factory bikes are not perfect, and that most times you would like to make some amendments to them. So I’m wondering what you would change first, maybe even from day one?

Here’s a link to the specs of the Fuel EX 5:

Thanks!!

Giant Trance X3 2009 - Suspension Pivot bearings.

My trance has been a little noisy and further investigation of the causes has narrowed it down to bearings in the main pivot.
Anyone got any ideas on replacing the bearings?
Bearings rolling very rough on one side, so I have tried to repack with grease and see if that is going to help. To be tested!
I would prefer to just replace them...but am not that mechanically minded, otherwise I take it down to the bike shop....

Cheers
Shano.

Bike carriers

Hi there,

I am looking at getting a bike carrier that fits on a towbar hitch. Was checking out the Thule vertex 4. Anyone used one of theses? My bike is a specialized fsr xc where the shock is vertical so should have no problem being placed on a bike rack. However in future if I upgrade to a bike where the shock is along the top tube how could I put this on a bike carrier?

Securing A bicycle...

Good evening everyone. I thought this would be a good topic to ask about due to all the unfortunate losses lately. Im curios as to see what methods people use to secure there pride and joy. I.e. locks, chains, wall brackets with dynabolts etc.. Just looking to find a method that will stop my bike from rolling away.

Thanks everyone...

Jono.

Winter riding top? Ground Effect Popsicle?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

The missus is saying that she needs a long sleeve top that takes the bite out of the cold air for early morning rides. She already has arm warmers, booties, leg warmers and rain jacket but she wants a warmer long sleeve riding top.

Please note this is Perth, not Tasmania.

Anyone had any experience or recommendations with this sort of top? Ground Effect have an interesting top that she is eyeing off.

Busted Crank Brothers Colbolt rim - I assume this is terminal??

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Folks,

please see attached a pic of where the spoke holder on my rear Crank Brothers Colbolt rim has broken -

I assume this is terminal and now means either a new rim + rebuild or a complete wheel!!!

Im open to ideas.
