How the hell do you break the bead on UST tyres?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

My trust Aredents have let me down. Some how i managed to stake a decent size hole in the centre of the rear tyre. Now these tyres have copped some abuse around, LCNP, Terrey Hills, Appin and Blue Mountains, over the last 2 years, never a problem. Hit singleton on the weekend, one of the smoothest tracks around. 5km in, there was a hiss and then a ferris wheel of stans fluid. Had a tube no problem, quick fix. NO. Do you think I could break the love a fair my Ardents and UST Fulcrum rims were having. No chance. Obviously this is why they are called Maxxis LUST.

Best XC Hardtail for Under $800

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi,
Ive recently moved to Perth from the UK and stupidly sold my Kona Kula Deluxe before I came, I am looking for a new XC under $800. I'm out of the loop on technical spec these days so am not sure what is a good price or what I should be able to get for this price. Any info is highly welcomed.

Cheers peeps.
Sarah

Has anyone heard anything about these pretty looking agogo 29er carbon frames?

Curious to hear from anyone who has seen or tried them.

Thanks!

Nooooooo my beautiful bike already damaged after 3 months. I think i'm going to cry like an Aussie swimmer. I only noticed when i was cleaning my bike after a ride today that i have scratched my Fox Shock. Options? ? Use some nail polish, super glue, or hard set resin to fill in the slight scratch and then gently sand it back ? Send it off to be repaired properly? or ?????? i don't know.... The fork is a Fox Float RLC FIT...

Tubeless conversion

Ghetto conversion with

Alex DP20 rim on rear with Kenda Small block 8 folding 2.35. - the bead set as soon as I put it on at the servo.

Kmart $4 20" tube - was cut down the middle for a rim strip.

Nitto electrical tape 18mm - spoke tape. wrapped nice and tight.

Brushing Latex $40 mixed with Windex and water.

Running 35psi on the back with tube, so wondering how low I could go for a 95kg rider + gear.

Hey Guys

Im looking for a new helmet, for mainly XC riding/racing. Im looking for something which is light and isn't too expensive (around $100 - $200).

Any good suggestions?

29er Tyres

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Looking to replace the Racing Ralph's (front and rear) that came with my HT 29er.

Being in Perth, mainly ride at the Camel and Goat Farms, but also getting into the club races and doing the enduro events (but nowhere near the front)

Running tubes. Looking for good front traction.

Been suggested Crossmarks, another combo is Specialzed Captain (Front) and Renegade in the rear.

Any other suggestions?

The Future?

A mate of mine from Wanaka who has a ski bike business sent me this link. I'm not associated with the company at all but it looks really interesting, particularly been able to change gears under load and no chain drops!

A penguin takes his car to a mechanic to get it looked over. Mechanic says it will take about an hour.
So, to kill some time the penguin goes across to road to get an ice cream. You know how much penguins love ice cream.
But the little guy's got no thumbs and can't hold it properly and ends up getting the soft serve all over his face.
Anyway, he heads back to the mechanic to get his car. Mechanic says "Looks like you blew a seal"
Penguin responds "Oh no, thats just a little ice cream"

Some of you may have read my post on wanting to upgrade my suspension...

Mountain Bike Shoes - recommendations?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Have struggled away for years with a reliable and robust but clunky pair of specialised lead-monsters

Feel I am ready to graduate to lightweight to help improve times.

Any suggestions? -

thinking of going to Crank Brothers Egg Beater as well

Appreciate all the advice and information?
