Bike and accessory talk. How do I fix my brakes? What's a good fork for me? Check out this hot bling! etc.

Seat moves / tilts when I ride.

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

My seat is changing its tilt position when I ride. It's so annoying that I turned around and came home rather than go riding at Glenrock.

The seat post is a Pro Tharsis and I have the clamp tightened to 13nm as recommended.

Note: This is a new problem and my fear is that the post has worn out - which is not good considering it has only had minimal use.

Any suggestions ?

bike to commute to and from work

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

hi guys I'm looking for a bike that i can commute to and from work on, its my first job.

im allready a keen mountain biker on my trance and its not suitable for riding to work on.

i am located in lesmurdie, and my job is in cannington
(for people who don't know the ride down from lesmurdie is very steep and obviously I've gotta get back up it.)

i was looking at road bikes but i am open to suggestions including brands, models etc

any response is welcome, thank you

SR Suntour forks go leading edge

... or is that bleeding edge Eye-wink ... carbon crowns and lowers with bonded magnesium droputs. Some beefy looking DH forks too, with adjustable high and low-speed compression, and rebound.

Looks like there's a bit more to their arsenal than heavy coil sprung entry level, apparently Women's XCO gold medalist Julie Bresset won on one of their forks. Shocked

stupid vibration under brakes

Ok - so i have a problem ... (all funny conotations aside - most of which are probably true Eye-wink)

I have a 2011 stumpy FSR 29er - running jetblack front and rear rims, 203mm discs front and rear, Avid elixir hydraulic brakes

the issue i have is this - whenever i apply enough pressure on the rear brake lever so that the pads grab the disc - the whole frame vibrates and makes a shrieking sound, the front brakes are perfectly fine.

this is what i have done so far to try and remedy the issue
- tried the stock 185mm rear (no difference)
- new pads (no difference)

Elixer Brakes

G'day

Can someone tell me how to open up the brake pads on my Elixer 7 Brakes? The gap has closed up and the pads are rubbing on the disc while I am riding.

Mavic 2012 Crossmax ST hub 15 mm front axle spacers wanted

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi

I have lost one of my Mavic 15 mm front spacers - a result of having to take my front wheel off every time I transport my bike on the back of the car (otherwise the exhaust 'bubbles' the UST tyre Sad ).

Anyways, does anyone have a set of 2012 15mm spacers lying around that they might sell me?

Regards

Richard

I'm just getting into mtbing and went for a ride up at Kalamunda the other week and loved it. I used a friends Giant xtc and found that I felt to far forward on the bike especially going downhill. I have come to the conclusion that I want a good alround bike that is going to be good on the trails but will also allow me to do a little XC if I need to.

1 1/4" stem?

So I have got the new bike but it comes with a tapered steerer from 1 1/2" to 1 1/4". Not much luck finding a stem that size so I can swap out the OEM part. Does anyone know of any 1 1/4" models. The best solution I could find was a FSA OS120 that comes with a shim to reduce to 1 1/8"

Pretty close to ordering new fork and shock, as per previous posts.

One thing Id like to get some more advice on is rear shock size for 2012 Trance adv 1
Currently the factory shock is a Fox 7.250 x 1.750 XV (high volume)
The 'boost valve' model i want only comes in 7.5 x 2.0 (both high and std volume)

My Italian Stallion (N+1)

I picked her up this afternoon and took her a spin around Sydney park, first impressions are great.

The real test will be this weekend on the trails, I see there is a club race at Yellowmundi, which is tempting.....

Edit: It's a Bianchi Jab 29.1 with the fork upgraded to a RS Reba.
