Is Anyone Up for a Redhill Ride this Saturday?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi! I'm new to Sydney and have been exploring the trails on the weekends. You've got some nice stuff here Eye-wink

I went to Manly Dam the other week which was really fun. Last Sunday I went to Redhill; it was really fun, but I got pretty lost because – unlike Manly Dam – there's many different trail options to take. So yeah I think I will get a lot more out of it if I head around there with someone else! Plus it's always funner riding with someone else.

Bare Creek Track, Mona Vale Road entrance

Looking at the Cascades trails database, I notice that the section of Bare Creek Track that comes down off Mona Vale Road just past the slip road (where Narabang Way joins MV road heading westbound) doesn't really feature much (erm, at all).

Is there a reason for this? Not ride-able? Formally closed to mtb? Impassable creek crossing? Fatally boring?

Looking to incorporate it into a bigger loop, if possible.

Access to Garigal fire roads near JJ Melbourne Hills

Was just looking at my route trace for today's ride to Terrey Hills and back, and noticed that there appears to be a fire road network starting up near the Terrey Hills BMX track running down into Garigal east of Forest Way.

However, I can't quite see how to make the few hundred metres link from the end of Kamber Road to the start of the fire trail as it looks from the satellite map it may pass through private land or some sort of facility.

Has anyone got further information? Here's where I'm talking about: http://goo.gl/maps/XNNmD

Bloody foreigner

Hi guys! I'm new in this forum and I could say in Australia as well. I came in to Sydney from Spain in January 2012 and I'd be glad to join you. I don't know anyone riding MTB here. I live in Seaforth and I wonder where do I can catch you up.
I really love this country and MTB, so I think it could be the best way to discover these beautiful places over here!!
I hope there is any one keen to ride with a Spaniard!! Sticking out tongue

Firetrails in Garigal NP?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi guys,

I'm trying to figure out how to get from near the Monavale Rd/Forest Way junction back to Narrabeen via the Firetrails. I know it's possible to ride the firetrails off of Morgan Rd, but I'd like to jump on closer to Monavale Rd.

I found a couple year old NPWS Fire Management Strategy PDF online which seems like it marks out the firetrails, but I couldn't figure out where the entry point was. I've circled it in blue, with my hoped for path laid out.

Bird watch at MD

Gidday - long time reader.. first time poster.

Thought I'd warn MD riders about a particularly "protective" magpie/starling that swooped me on Saturday and then took some skin off my nose on Sunday.

It attacks in the middle section of Gibbs St betwen King Street and Arana St - riding up the hill. Look out - I reckon it could take your eye out.

19th hole track upgrades/downgrades

Rode the dam today and i must say that i am dissapointed with the boulders trail fairies have put on the top of the 19th hole.

The boulders have totally wrecked the flow for anyone wishing to take the more technical line!

These things need to be rearranged to cater not only for beginners run but also for the more advanced run.
