Nice Long Ride

Below is a preview, click to read the full post
When:
Sunday, 20 March, 2011 - 06:00

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
The Oaks
Meeting Point:

Glenbrook station carpark.

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

One of my favourites - The Oaks plus detour up to Hazelbrook and then back down.

This is a long and steady training ride I am not that fit at the moment so the pace will be easy enough but with no stopping (its training not a social gathering).

Duck, Centre & Long - Friday

When:
Friday, 18 March, 2011 - 20:00

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Duck Hole/Terrey Hills Trail
Meeting Point:

Although we don't normally ride this trail on it's own, with a bit of road work it makes a nice loop from Terrey Hills shops (on Booralie Road) then onto Centre Track and back along the road to the shops.

That's the same as the more standard Terrey Hills rides.

This was such a nice way to finish the week and start the weekend I think I might make this a regular outing.

Need to get some time on the dirt under lights for the upcoming Mont and Solo Nationals so a bit of Friday night riding is the go.

This is a training ride with the emphasis more on ride (it is not a race, smash fest or a chance to post a hot lap) the pace hopefully will be moderate with no stopping.

I intend to do Duck, Centre and finish with the Long out and back so in other words a nice solid night ride.

Yes you will need some lights.

First time lap and happy with the result. Could have gone quicker on the way back but in the mood for a cruise rather than an all out assault on the 1 hour mark.

Terrey Hills update for 12 Mar

Status:
Green/Open

Perimeter & Long Track.... sounds much the same as last weeks update from Hawkeye.

Couple of wet creek crossing, some VERY sandy corners... watch you don't go bush.... and the pinch climb is very loose

Big improvement

I went to a lap to try out the new brakes (upgraded from Juicy 7s to XT 775's) and thought I'd give it a fair nudge. The track was in perfect nick, nice and tacky, and the legs felt good so ended up taking 2:20 off my previous best logged lap so I'm well happy. Ironically I was going a fair bit faster so/because I used the brakes a lot less than normal but they seem to be a good improvement with lots of feel and power.

Manly hot laps

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I was just interested in peoples thoughts about the speed of Manly. I've been riding it for years and it feels to me lately that I guess because of the high traffic and slowly developing ruts and bumps underfoot( or underwheel that may well read!) that it actually runs a bit slower. It's certainly not a complaint - and it could well be because I am riding with a lighter more responsive bike or just that I'm 5 years older but I find when I'm doing a hot lap that the parts you crank up on I find the juddering seems to prohiibit me from getting to the speed that I used to.
