Fork advice
Hi guys, I am after your opions on a small dilema I have. I have my trusty Kona Dawg which has been relegated to commuter and spare bike when needed. I have recently gone over the bike and replaced bottom bracket, headset, chain and rings etc. I have been getting a clunky noise on impact at the front end which had to be either the front hub or the forks. I knew the hub was suspect so I replaced the front wheel and at the same time changed the fork oil. Noise is still there. So my question is -

Waratah Track update for 19 Nov
Rode it Sunday. Two steep sections that have been graded have now turned into rubble heaps - loose and tricky climb. Bit of water/mud about 0.5km from the lookout. Otherwise all good.

Awaba State Forest update for 19 Nov
Rode multiple red laps on Wednesday and Thursday (ok, so I was in the area and it's too good to pass up!). Large tree fallen across the trail between Cowbell Corner and Siberia. Standing water in the low-lying sections of Lower Red Loop/Frogmouth, some mud. I was covered in mud/sand. Still a great ride though!

Time for a new helmet
Hi All,
I just saw this article in the SMH.
http://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/wellbeing/new-bi...
Hmmm I wonder how is will impact on the laws for racing, eg does every rider now have to have a helmet that meets the new standard as well?
If anyone out there is looking for a new helmet it might pay to make sure that it meets the new standard before you buy.

Maintenance Fail
...the premier, who often cycles to work, had a minor accident when her handlebar separated from her bike...
Oh dear. I imagine it was a bit like this:

Crowd
Great turnout and well presented by DECC staff.
It's exagerating to the point of missleading for people to be using words like "screaming", "flying", and "thundering" in relation to off-road cycling. People should not use these words if they want to be taken seriously.
My GPS/datalogger tells me I average about 8kms/hour on tight narrow single track. A human walks at about 5km/hour. Get real, and get used to SHARING these assets with other users.

Weekend in Canberra Riding in Jan
Anyone keen on heading down for the weekend to the ACT in Jan, cant do beforehand as I have a somewhat busy schedule between now and Xmas including a trip to the UK.
I was potentially thinking 15th-16th Jan or 29th or 30th Jan?
I was going to suggest Australia Day, however since that falls on a Wed this year as opposed to a Friday or Monday no 3 day weekend which is a shame.
Never ridden down there and would fancy a blast on some of the trails down there.

Shimon Schocken's rides of hope
Computer science professor Shimon Schocken is also an avid mountain biker. To share the life lessons he learned while riding, he began an outdoor program with Israel's juvenile inmates and was touched by both their intense difficulties and profound successes.
