Red Hill update for 17 Oct

Area:
Red Hill
Status:
Green/Open

Had a fun ride on the Hill this morning with a couple of mates. Giving it a green because it is as good as it gets. All dry except for the swimming pool on the main track before the brown house which only dries out in the middle of summer and of course a little damp from the river that runs down from the sand pit to pink rock. Also no snakes seen on this ride compared with the last couple of rides.

Cheap frames on eBay

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

So, there are these cheap carbon frames on eBay that look like a real bargain.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-STARS-Full-Carbon-MTB...

There are a few things online about them, most people that have taken the gamble seem to be happy. Of coruse the real worry would be having it snap in half while riding it but I cab't find any of those horror stories.
I was thinking of replacing the Kona frame I use on my comuter bike and this looks nice and light.

Mount Annan Botanic Garden update for 17 Oct

Status:
Green/Open

The track is in good condition and there are no puddles or muddy bits. Unfortunately there is a maniac magpie that isn't that keen on sharing, he hit me for the first time at the top of the intermediate section and followed me almost all the way back down to where it joins up with the beginer trail. I'd have to give him 10 points for persistance and aiming ability but I'll be stearing clear for a bit (to be honest I thought that the season would be over by now, haven't been swooped elsewhere for a couple of weeks).

Site outage - Major D'oh!

So... someone let the NoBMoB domain expire. It was renewed just now (Sunday morning) but a lot of people might well still see an outage.

It might be too late to mention this, but you can access all the NoBMoB content (and that from other Global Riders sites) on the below URL:

http://all.global-riders.net/

This site is kindof 'test' status and needs some work on the homepage and theme, but it gets the job done.

Of course, you could just login to any of the other Global Riders sites and so long as you have 'Always view content from nobmob.com' check in your profile (access and content) will be able to see all that content too.

Apologies for this. The head hamster will be taken out on a bike ride and fed to the first carpet Python we come across! Eye-wink

Bobbin Head update for 16 Oct

Area:
Bobbin Head
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Re-opened after being burned off. However, it is not the best track to ride along as it's all burned on one side. Some parts are as wide as a two lane road - not really proper MTB until the descent! Probably will stay off this one with the bike due to the not so pleasant views.

Menai - regular Wednesday night ride

Below is a preview, click to read the full post
When:
Wednesday, 20 October, 2010 - 19:30

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Menai (Lucas Heights)
Meeting Point:

OPPOSITE THE ENTRANCE TO ANSTO ON THE NEW ILLAWARRA ROAD, LUCAS HEIGHTS.

Time to start dodging the spiders again at Menai on a regular basis now the weather is warming up. (I'm sure they've been effected by nuclear fallout from ANSTO, they seem twice as big as anywhere else)

For those that don't know Menai, there will be technical ups and downs, there are a number of rocky sections and new comers to night riding might find this a bit tough.

Hope to see a few of you there.

Chris

Berowra

When:
Saturday, 30 October, 2010 - 17:00

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Meeting Point:

Corner of Gully and Berowra Waters Road

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

Changed location of this ride from Quarry Road Track, since I couldn't come here last weekend.

It consists of a great firetrail with two good lookouts with a rainforest scenery, then some more 'interesting' stuff. Good technical and fitness suggested. Trail discription, follow this link:
