Mid week day-time spin anyone??

Hi,

I'm off work this week so if anyone is heading out for a spin and wouldnt mind some company then please do let me know....I've met some of you on the Wisemann' Ferry Spin a few weeks ago so I'd be willing and able for lots of technical stuff at a 'social' pace;-) Dont know enough of the trails yet to organise anything and am dying to get out on the bike again!

Cheers,
Una

Ourimbah State Forest update for 20 Jul

Status:
Green/Open

Absolutely beautiful. Nice and dry. Looks like they've done work on the track in the last week or so with new bridges and some smoothing of previously treacherous areas. (Don't worry, they haven't red

Manly Dam update for 20 Jul

Manly Dam
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Had a look at the Dam this afternoon and it is finally starting to dry out. Not yet worth bumping the rating up to green, but only the usual areas of water over the fire trails are really damp. Single

Serious

OK, lets get serious

I don't know if this is possible, so call me mad if you want but... Has anyone done Andos+Oaks and back again?
That would make about 120km of offroad with about 2900m climbing.

I'm up for doing something similar next weekend, perhaps Andos+Oaks with extras. I want to get as close the doctor distance and climb as I can, but at a "base level" pace.

Anyone else keen?

Unlucky not to crack 100km

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Thanks to Gavin and Vanina for giving me some of their gels, congratulations to you both for your awesome results. Apart from forgetting the gels my preparation for this ride was so much better than the WWS 8hr at Appin, I've now got a large number of bottles and containers with segments so I can organise all my food and drinks before the race start.

Meeting Point:

From Lithgow head on the Western Highway toward Bathurst. After 10-11Km you will head uphill and see thick pine forest to the right. It's dual carriageway here, and there's a right turn across the other lane into Forest Ridge Drive (signposted and a sealed road). About 50m on the left there's a turning where you can park in the shade. There's also an old concrete section of the highway just past there with masses of parking.

Legal Singletrack in Winston Hills

When the Singletrack near the M2 at Winston Hills was discussed a while back, a few people wanted confirmation that it was bike legal.

I recently took a photo of the signage.

The pic is from the phone, so it's not great, but you can clearly make out the two separate signs, one indicating it's a Shared Pathway, with a picture of a bike and a walker.

Also note the sign at the top "Offroad Cycle Link"

Clearly the councils can manage what the National Parks largely cannot.
