Avid Matchmaker

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Anyone considering moving their Avid levers/SRAM triggers around (like me - gonna put the brakes inboard) might be interested in this little Avid Matchmaker thing I just noticed. Didn't see it before, perhaps I'm just slow.

No, it's not some kind of super keen cupid, it's a single mount that both Avid Levers and SRAM shifters can hang from. Found a nice picture here on NSMB:

Hmmmm... Ultimate and X0.... Sticking out tongue

You can even hang pop-loc remote switches off these two, as this page shows:

Final Jersey Design

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

This is the chosen colour scheme for the NoBMoB Jersey. These are proper cycling jerseys of course, not just tees, made by Scody (you've seen their gear in the shops, right?). So, get them while they are hot :)

You know the drill, add a comment with size/quantity if you want one, we'll keep a running total.

Pricing was... erm... around $110 each if we get 25. Naturally more is cheaper. Considering most event jerseys are often over 100 bucks it's not so bad.

Extending steerer tubes

Ok, this may be a stupid question, but does anyone know if it is possible to extend a steerer tube on the top of a fork?

No I didn't stuff up. I'm looking at using a fork, cut down to suit one frame, on another one but the steerer tube on the second frame is about 30mm longer. So the drum is, the fork will still fit but would only go about half way into the stem clamp, not far enough I think, so I want to try and extend the tube. Fortunately I still have the original piece I cut off, which I'm thinking could be welded back on.

Any advice or reccommendations welcome.

Ride Database Entry:
The Oaks

Hi,

I know that there is another race on on Sunday and most of your are doing this. But I'm pretty keen to ride up the oaks trail and then back down it again. Riding up makes the descent much more enjoyable! Eye-wink Ride times will probably be 2:20(ish) up and 1:20 (ish) back down again. I did this last Sunday and it was pretty cool so I will probably go again...

Launch from the Glenbrook station, ride up the firetrail to the gate at Woodford and then enjoy the descent back down again.

my new favorite discipline!

spent a few hours today on the new p3 at terrey hills bmx track, after a rusty start i soon warmed up and was launching off all the jumps, this thig is a dream! its got the nimbleness of a bmx yet the stability of a big downhill bike. i cant fault it and its my new favofite toy! the only reason i came home was i was shaking with exhaustion, even then pulling into the driveway i had to talk myself out of taking it for a spin at red hill. I LOVE IT!!! bruce, you have to get one of these things. GREAT FUN!

in June 2007 i bought a trek top fuel 9.8 at Clarance street cycle's it is carbon fiber, today when i was on the terry hills track the chain got stuck between the chain ring and the carbon fiber back stay. this happened alot it has damaged the carbon fiber and i am wondering do you think this would be covered under warranty. also when i cleaned my bike i noticed the cable to the rear shock has gouged into the frame 2 to 3 mm when i tapped this area it sounded very hollow would this be covered under warranty?

Ride Database Entry:
Duck Hole/Terrey Hills Trail

Anyone think a night ride would be interesting Tuesday night to view this rare(ish)event?
I know there is a ride 29th but this could be additional and more social ie <15Km/h with a beer or two with snacks while the event is taking place.
Will need a good easterly view..Thinking the large rock platform looking east over the golf course.
If its crap weather it might be simply a ride or will cancel.

The lunar eclipse will start at about 6.50pm on Tuesday August 28 and by 7.50pm the moon will be totally obscured by the Earth's shadow.
