Economics
Now that I've been a MTB fan for a few years, I'm trying to figure out how the pro's manage their income. I've been following Jason English & Ed McDonald on Strava. They put in a HUGE number of km's every week. I'm intriged to find out how they manage to get so much training time - money for all the food they must consume! - drive train replacements - general income for living etc.
I'm not asking for exact dollar amounts at all. I'm sure that sponsors & prize money take care of some of the costs.

Old Man's Valley update for 12 Feb
It would be accurate to say the trail will be sodden with the amount of rainfall we've received over Hornsby overnight and whilst there is no official notification from Hornsby SC the trail is closed, one should consider being cautious and not riding the trail until it dries out more, hopefully in time for the weekend.

Manly Dam update for 12 Feb
I've never updated the trail status before so I won't go straight to red without some official go ahead even though I am almost certain it would be red by now.
I cut a training ride short yesterday afternoon because the trail is in horrible condition. Earthworks from the creek crossing up to Allambie Heights (I think?) combined with rain had already turned the trail into a bog - things can only have gone downhill since then.
Do your bike and the trail a favour and find somewhere else for the moment.

Canyon bikes
Discovered in a magazine few month the 'boutique' brand Canyon > http://www.canyon.com/_en/
They seems to be pretty good bikes, well made, and even the cheapest model has decent gears.
Does anyone own one? or tested one?
Is there any shops in and around Sydney selling this brand?
Would be nice to test one before buying.
