Old Man's Valley update for 17 Feb

Status:
Green/Open

Very much green/open as of this afternoon. I think riders had issues this morning when there would have been a bit of due around on the wood sections. I think the trail drains really well as I didn't come across any muddy/boggy puddles that can be found on other trails in sydney at the moment. I would even argue that riding the trail in its present condition would do less wear and tear than if the trail was bone dry and dusty as the moisture is holding the soil together really well. Maybe early morning might have a due factor on the wood sections??

Awaba State Forest update for 17 Feb

Status:
Green/Open

Bit wet early, but dried out nicely after a couple of laps.

By lunch it was as good as it gets for MTB'g, awesome grip.

Thanks guys for some of the track work done recently. Haven't been here for a while, but the track maintenance was noticeable.

Thanks for all those involved.

Duck Hole/Terrey Hills Trail update for 17 Feb

Status:
Green/Open

A bit of surface water, but the track is firm and holding good traction. Treat the water with respect and you won't have any problems. I rode it both directions end to end.

There is a tree down, but it is easy to get around.

Tubeless tyre pressures - what do you ride?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi All,

I was after a bit of help and advice on tubeless tyre pressure.

I run a 26" dual suspension (5") bike with XT wheels and Nobby Nic's (F&R), I weigh 85-90kgs with gear.

I would say I'm an average rider who rides all of the popular trails on the Northern Beaches, I can do all of the obstacles on the dam and usually ride a sub 40min lap.

I have been experimenting with the pressures but I think I have them too high, something highlighted today by the fact I rode Duck hole, Waratah and Centre Track with my rear tyre pressure at 20Psi!!

Very tacky but some mud spots in the corners. Generally it has drained well.

Cascades update for 16 Feb

Area:
Cascades
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

First ride in a while. Track is wet but quite rideable. Not too many puddles so looks like the recent waterbar work is doing its job. Some bits are wet sand so a little effort is required. Bike came out fairly free of sand and dirt, but I was going fairly slow. Should be good in one day of sun.

Lane Cove National Park update for 16 Feb

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Rode through from Gloucester Ave to Pennant Hills Park this morning. Not as damp as I'd expected, with most of the sandy areas nice and firm and only a few wet patches. But there's been more rain since.......
