Mavic Rim failure
Went out for a final "training" ride for the Husky today and had a major failure of my rear rim (a 4.5 yrs old Mavic 721). Ripped two spokes clean out of the rim. No stick in the spokes, just a nasty twang while pedalling hard up a little rock garden area. Very careful ride home.
Fortunately the rear cassette off my spare bike is at a similar wear level, so (fingers crossed) a rear wheel swap and tyre change this afternoon and the Prophet is good to go for Sunday. Glad it didn't happen 25kms into the race...

This week's tweaks
Just in case you didn't notice, here's a heads up on the tweaks around the site this week:
One can now view popular images in a grid. By 'popular' we mean highest rated.
If you are logged in, you can now also see the grid with only the images you haven't rated - this is handy if you just want to flick through them and cast a vote or two. Handy hint: in most modern (tabbed) browsers pressing the mouse wheel opens links in a new tab - I often scan this grid and 'middle click' those I think worth of a closer look, then go through and rate them if worthy.
Another feature for those tracking their skills or fitness via hot lap challenges: you can now view your history in the 'My laps' tab. Eg, to view your times round the ever popular Manly Dam - Main Circuit hit this link (yes - it will only work if you are logged in).

Tubeless Conversion - How to ?
I am currently considering converting to tubeless tyres and after reading a lot of the posts here am still a bit confused on the "How to" piece and the choices out there.
Can anyone provide any advice / info on the following questions ?
I currently have Sun Ringle Equalizer 21 rims and a Maxis High Roller 2.35 / Larsen TT 26 x 2.00 tyres on a Commencal Meta 55.2:
1) What steps would I need to follow to convert to tubeless ? At the moment I'm assuming I'd buy something like the Stan's kit and follow the instructions ?

Physio Recommendation
Howdie,
Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good sports physio on the northern beaches (preferrably close to Allambie Heights). My son has torn his Achilles tendon and I am looking for a second opinion / therapy. Cheers, Mick

Scouting For suspension
After my hands and arms litterally being shaken to bits after the last ride ( i litterally had to squeeze for dear life on my handle bars so it would hurt as much ) I started scouting the web for a small air fork and found just the thing a brand new rock shox tora 100mm solo air fork. Not a bad price at $280.00 AUD at my door. checked the tube length and i think it will fit. I think ive got a 240mm now but can also get the fork with a 254mm
Is it worth the money, is the fork any good

Wisemans Ferry
I was out at Wisemans ferry on Sunday morning for a ride - the track is in great condition with very little wetness anywhere. I tried a new route - on the way up past the right turn down Finches line - there's a track that leads off to your left about another 10 mins up the track - it drops back out on the same road that Shepards gully does - but about 4km further up the road. It starts as fire trail and then disappears into this narrow and quite steep single trail that drops off the ridge and into a gully where it winds along the stream bed until you come out in some paddocks.
