Manly Dam aggressive man with dog abusing cyclists

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I am interested to hear if anybody else has been confronted by a 40 something year old angry man with an bull terrier who waits on the rock half way down the down hill single track behind the homes at allambie (southern cross way). he seems to be there in the afternoon on weekends and abuses riders and intimidates them with his dog, the last 2 afternoon rides I have done around the dam (some 3 weeeks apart he was in exactly the same spot.

Council meeting results on WSN Tip site

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Good news about the proposed plan for the WSN tip site in Belrose: http://www.warringah.nsw.gov.au/council_then/doc...

We had four speakers in favour of the mountain bike trails option (Option 3) for the WSN site, including the local State member for the Belrose area, and a resident who has nothing to do with mountain bikes but wants to see the site utilised well.

faster, but still no cigar

Date:
26 Apr 10

I was feeling pretty confident about cracking 1hr today. A good 1st half or 30:30 at the end of the loop at the end of long, including a quick stop to say g'day to my brother coming the other way on perimeter still had me feeling good. back on perimeter at 43+ had me thinking I've lost it, still pushed pretty hard all the way back. Close but no cigar

getting better

3rd ride with Clip ins, track still a little damp in spots and had to dismount twice on way back as horse riders were around and the horses got spooked and dismounted until horses had calmed down and was safe to pass. I think that 1 hr mark is not very far away at all..

NZ Heaphy Track

Looks like the National Parks in NZ will be opening the Heaphy track as a trial from May 1st through to September this year. This is an epic NZ ride - approx 82km's and about a 9hour day. It's well worth a planned trip if the DOC accept the proposal (which looks likely)

Gear issues

I have an issue with my gears. They regularly slip into higher gears, especially if they are under load. When I ride on a nice, flat area and change gears, I can change up and down nicely as expected but when under a bit of load, nasty slippage which also sounds terrible.

Obviously something needs adjusting and I would appreciate some tips about what I need to look at. Do I need to adjust the cable tension or something else? It is a reasonably new bike so I am thinking that it is unlikely to need anything replaced although I am open to being told otherwise!

Glenrock State Conservation Area update for 25 Apr

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Walked Glenrock today with the NPWS, IMBA and some of the trail crew.

The new works to "Shit Happens" are very soggy, so best to be avoided till it settles in. The water has only penetrated the top cm of the loose soil so it tends to stick to shoes/tyres and make a mess. BJ's has some big puddles. The quarries are sloppy clay.

Essentially it is wet, but should dry quickly once the sun comes out.
