What a looser!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Anyone see that inconsiderate idiot that cramped on the canoe bridge and held up stacks of people for about 5 minutes? That was me Sad
Sincere apologies to anyone behind me. There really was nothing I could do, movement was not an option, I have never had cramp that bad.

I thought I was on for a cracker of a time up till then too, as it was, with the 5 odd mins. lost on the bridge and from having cramp for the remainder of the ride, loosing loads of places etc. I was only in 2 mins. slower than last year. I suppose I could be pleased with that, if it wasn't for the shame.

It's a start...

Date:
2 May 10

Not a great time, but it draws a line in the sand for future improvement. A couple of short stops and walks due to line choice errors and other riders in the way walking technical sections. Happy that I managed to ride all of the track wthout feeling like my brain had gone to jelly at any time, and I negotiated Heartbreak Hill without stopping and without needing to rest at the top to "keep my head on".

Lower back was a bit sore by the end - note to self: need to strengthen that at the gym.

Satisfied with the ride - will get better.

Andersons update for 02 May

Area:
Andersons
Status:
Green/Open

Rode Ando's yesterday. The trail is in very good condition, in fact too good. As previous report says, it's now like a highway - you could drive a Corolla down the trail. There are no babyheads or ruts at all.

On the positive side, water bars are now in place, there's probably a dozen good ones, with nice kickers and smooth landings.

Watch for a few sandy sections, especially in fast corners. An XC running race was happening on Andos and Ingar and according to signs is also on again today 2 May.

Blue Mountains riders need your help

Here's news just (well, it's been there a week, but I've been slow) in of a new trail advocacy groups getting started up in the Blue Mountains. One of the founders has described it thus:

The Blue Mountains Off Road Cyclists BMORC has been setup up to be a resource for riders in the mountains. Its aim is to bring together the large number of riders in the area into a more unified community that will improve the social nature of riding and the better sharing of information. Further it will try to become a common voice representing riders to work with council to try and improve the resources for sustainable riding trails in the area.

It's early days as they are just getting started, but at the very least please take a look and if you enjoy riding on the trails up there please give them a hand and show support. There is a 'Register your support' forum here:

P.S. BMORC.com (like NoBMoB, CTMBC and a few others) is part of the Global Riders Network - logins are shared on these sites.

Dual Suspension help please :)

** The Target**
DUALIE Smiling

Hoping someone on here might be able to assist.
currently i ride an 09 Alias (size XXL)
however recently i have been visiting trails where this bike just can't cope.
I would like to invest in my "rear end" and purchase a Dualie.
however i have hit 1 "small" snag and want to hear from people as to their recommendations/experiences.

* The problem *
I am not a short/small guy or even average for that matter.
I stand at a ridiculous 6'7" (198cm) and weigh in at a hefty 122Kgs
there are no dualie bikes that suit....

ideas people!!! ideas!!!! COMON!

Dirtworks 50km - Anyone want to carpool on Sunday?

I'm heading up early Sunday for the Dirtworks 50km.
Anyone want to share a lift up from Sydney?
I can take my car, or join in with someone else.

Phuket MTB?

I am heading to Phuket for a family trip. Mostly just relaxing, no doubt with a beer in my hand but I get a little edgy doing too much of nothing. Has anyone ever been to Phuket and gone mountain biking with a company supplies decent bikes and takes you out on decent tracks? I don't expect Whistler on a Mojo but the last thing I want is to end up on a dirt road riding a Huffy with no suspension!
