Feeling Surly
I was very organised arriving early with plenty of time to do a bit of a warm up ride before rego. Then a look at Demtel hill again before the race start with Steve and Gazza, which was a good idea as it wasn’t the way we rode the week before.

Hammer time
Arriving early around 8:00am left me plenty of time to register, get ready and go for a warm up lap with Gaz & Damien.Rode up Demtel in granny not to wear myself out before the race the downhill section after demtel was down the DH berm track which was fun in a little traction way.

Maxxis "exception" series
I am wondering what the deal is with the Maxxis "exception" series compared to the standard "XC". I appreciate that the exception series is recommended for racing and it has something to do with the compounds used in the rubber to make them faster and thus better for racing but am unsure what this actually means to me. Are the "exception" series simply faster but the trade off is a less durable tyre or are they as durable and faster but you pay more for that?

Demtel Hell
Actually I shouldn't call it hell, it was completely expected. It really felt like there was a lot of climbing for this race but in fact it was only 694m in total. The downhill section after Demtel was fine, I was expecting all sorts of surprises but most people I saw took it all very slowly and it was all pretty straight forward. I got a pretty rubbish start but I'm not going to use it as an excuse, I just need to do more interval training.
Well done to the fast guys that finished in front of me (how competitive is this little group getting!), and bad luck to the DNFers.

Top Bike TV
I stumbled across this TV program called Top Bike TV the other day, and what do you know, it's all about bikes. More importantly cycling in Aus.
It's on TVS and has a pretty budget feel to it, but it's quite fun. Lots of road stuff but some MTB as well. They generally have a roller race at the end which is a fun, and it seems every week they have some mad adventure somewhere. They seem to be based in VIC from what I can tell (could be wildly wrong there) but get all over the place.

Manly Dam update for 21 Mar
Very dry. Some sections needing a trim (especially behind the crash barrier after the playground and boards). Nasty dips are beginning to form after some roll-offs, particularly around 19th hole.
After the recent talk of updated signs, didn't see a single one relating to either walkers or riders.
