The effects of Scumming
Okay as you know Ive been scumming it for quite some time now. At the end of the training in March it looked all fine and dandy for the 3Peaks, that didn't eventuate but thats another story...
I was a nervous as anything in anticipation of riding Ourimbah and considering I had done three laps of the Dam in the last six months and that was only last week and that was alos my total off road riding for the last six months.

Want to ride ourimbah tomorrow but there's a race...
I know I'm asking this really late but I only just found out. There's a ccomtb race at ourimbah tomorrow but we'd planned to go for a training ride. Can anyone tell me what the etiquette is on this? Can we still ride there? Obviously we'd get outta the way!
Cheers.

New bike here we go
have just ordered an 2009 Ironhorse bootleg 2.0 in the hope that it will bring my times down well below the times im doing currently on my 2006 Norco six one ( 42 min dam laps ) so that I will be able to enter in some races socially before too long and be somewhat competitive so that the next event doesnt need to wait for me to finish before starting.

It's not just the heat!
First up - thanks to Unclebullbar for the suggestion and looking after the two randoms (one of whom happens to be a colleague of mine) on the second lap.
However, not sure I thank him for bringing Tate along - he damn near killed me on the 3rd lap. Luckily I was happy for being dragged round as PB'd that course with a 37:34. Interesting that last week I had a similar experience trying to keep up with Steve01 & co and managed a 39:17, so gotta be happy with almost 2 minutes faster today.

Ourimbah State Forest update for 20 Mar
No standing water, even the first small bridge in Jurassic Park (you know - the one you sweep right then left across) can be bypassed.
Couple of trail fairies spotted working on section bottom of Rollercoaster, and chainsaws could be heard elsewhere. There's a small 'A' line appeared to the right of the rock roll down bottom of Rollercoaster which am not sure looks very 'official'. Warning: I wouldn't be hitting it, it's a launch and the margin for error is pretty much non-existent!
Another warning to those racing here tomorrow: it was not so much the heat, but humidity that was a killer today.

Generation One
Hi Everyone,
I'm lucky to be part of a campaign to change the lives of indigenous Australians through positive action to provide real jobs and training across the country. The initiative is financially backed by Andrew Forrest, Kerry Stokes and James Packer and we launched the campaign last night at Sydney Opera House.

Dirtworks on a Single Speed
So I'm doing the 50km rather than the 100km due to an ITB injury that I'm treating at the moment, and was going to use my FS bike, but am keen to do Single Speed.
This is my first event but I ride my SS at least once a week, can happily do 20-30km on a ride with it and have problems with hills in places like the Dam or Appin. Having not ridden the DW course I wondered if anyone could advise if given my info above I'd be OK on the course with SS. I'm sure I could ride it but the question is will I enjoy riding it?

Terrey Hills update for 20 Mar
Did Perimeter / Long Track this morning. Still pretty sandy, but starting to bed down some lines with all the traffic. Grading has fixed a few of the wetter bits of Perimeter (for the moment at least), but still a couple of wet spots. A couple of the little pinches on both tracks were so soft it was impossible (for me) to keep traction.
