Be the tortoise, not the hare...
It is 1am on a balmy night on the Gold Coast last weekend and I'm sitting in the VIP lounge of 'Love' nightclub. As I look across the dance floor packed with twenty-something aged dancers gyrating in time to the incredibly loud, but not distorted, doof doof, I notice the DJ is on a stage of sorts probably no more than 50cms high. 'I reckon I could pop the front wheel up that and ride onto that stage' I say to myself and have a laugh.

Withdrawn: Marzocchi Marathon LR air fork 26", 9mm QR, 100mm, 1 1/8, 170mm steerer - Ex demo
Hi all,
I have the following set of forks for sale; (also posted on FB)
Marzocchi Marathon LR air fork 26", 9mm QR, 100mm, 1 1/8, 170mm steerer - Ex demo
$200 – Pick-up Winmalee NSW, postage $25 NSW up to $45 to WA
I bought these forks ex-demo for $250 not realising that the steerer had been cut to 170mm already - I need at least 210mm for my frame. There is a star nut installed.
They are an entry level air fork with rebound and lock-out.
These forks present as brand new with the only mark being on the back of the crown where I assume they removed the crown race.

Manly Dam update for 19 Apr
Get out there. I've marked it Orange because there are a few areas where those who are precious about their gear will want to avoid. Overall very rideable and no damage to the trail. More detail below:
*Bangaroo St (Nth Bal) to Seaforth bowlo great.
*The s bends after the bowl slightly wet and that board at the entry is greasy.
*The single trail (sniggle), past the A & B line rock descent are great - dry as.
*There's a puddle just before the rock lookout over the golf course and a few minor puddles along the single trail to the double rock step up.
*Trig trail/cobblestones slightly greasy but fine.
*Fire trail descent to the creek great.
*Creek crossing very muddy - you'll get wet.
*From the creek crossing and up heart break hill are great.
*Rest of the fire trail fine - a few small puddles but very minor.
*The single trail after the fire trail all the way past that small park (19th hole?) to beside the road is fine - you wouldn't even know we've had rain.
*From Allambie to the Hydro lab is great - dry as. Even the boards before the hydro lab are fine.
*Just past Manly Vale School to that short sharp hill there's a bit of water in one place - you'll get wet.
btw - Possums, KC and that descent to the bus stop on the other side of the Parkway are great.
If you want to be super cautious about your drivetrain - do the extended loop and the only worry is after Manly Vale School. For most people the trail is fine - pack away the roadie and get amongst it before we get more rain!
Cheers,

Bantry Bay update for 18 Apr
The entire Bantry Bay area has held up really well after the rain. I rode Serrata, Daisy, Gahnia, Possum & Austrian Enduro today. All of the single trail was in perfect conditions. The only area that was a bit muddy was the freshly groomed Bantry Bay Firetrail.
Such a great spot to ride now.

Terrey Hills update for 18 Apr
Nerang, Perimeter, Long and Cowan.
Nerang - the "proper" entrance is still a little overgrown but is seeing more use, also a little wet. Once you join up with the old entrance the bog and rock shelf are both very wet but you can ride through it, please don't ride around. On the FT proper things are nice and green from that point until you get back to the bog.
Perimeter - From Nerang is a wet mess, I'd say red and would advise you to stay away unless you want a new drivetrain and enjoy cleaning your bike. More puddles than I ever remember seeing, some hub deep. If you come in at Smiths track then you will miss the worst of it but you will still get wet, I suggest the Jap school entrance for a couple of days yet. Once up on the ridge there are several trail wide puddles, all of these can be ridden through, please do even though people are obviously riding around them, this only widens the trail. The worst of these is where the walking trail meets the horse trail and fire trail.
Long Trail - not too bad with one or too extra puddles than normal but all manageable.
Cowan - The pick of the bunch, no puddles, soil is as firm as that sand can get and it's just rocky good fun.
If it rains tonight, as forecast then I don't think it would take much to turn all of Perimeter in to a running stream.

Terrey Hills UPDATE
Is there a reason why Terrey Hills trail status has disappeared from the home page ? Cheers GBH

Converting to 1 x 10
Could somebody please help me with selecting the correct rear derailleur cage size.
At the moment i have a non clutch Sram XO rear dreailleur with a long cage, i'm running 11-36 & 24-38T 2 x 10.
I want to go 1 x 10 with Wolftooth 42T rear added, & 32T front. I know i need a new Sram clutch derailleur XO Type 2.1, but will i need a medium or long cage? I also plan on running an MRP AMg guide, will this package run better with the optional 16T Wolftooth sells for rear?
Any help from someone who has done this conversion would be much appreciated.
