Flying to NZ with bikes
Ladies and gentlemen
I am going to NZ in April for 2 weeks with my girl and would like to take our 29er bikes with us, (mine is an XL of course!!!)
I know a few of you have flown to NZ with your bikes, so who is the best to fly with?
Air NZ has total 158cm linear limit before excess charges apply, which seems rather small, qantas bike box seems huge but the airfares are plenty more, Virgin don't have dimensions on their website that I can find, and are pretty cheap.
Any thoughts and comments would be great

Do you use your CTD?
Hi all,
Many of the FS bikes now come with CTD (climb, trail, descend) where you adjust a dial on your forks and shocks to adjust the suspension between hard, medium & soft. To make this useful you'd have to stop and also know the upcoming trail? So, if you are not a fan of stopping on your regular rides and/or like discovering new trails as you go it seems to me you'd just set it at trail and not really use the feature?
Anyone who has CTD can you advise whether you use it and how?
Thanks

Fizik saddles - Le Spit Cyclery
Le Spit has 3 types of Fizik saddle going for $50 each.
Limited colours but still a great buy.
I got a Gobi XM.
Can't recall the other models but Gobi XM was in the middle of the three in terms of width and comfort. There was a firmer flatter profile 'race' saddle and a wider saddle available.

CRC "sales"..
Has anyone noticed CRC's high RRP values on some sale items?
Needed to buy a part (not available in AUS), ended up on CRC.
I always keep my eyes open for bargains and they are currently running a "50 unbeatable" deals promotion, with very high discounts, calculated against their RRP prices.
Not going to go into details, check for yourself, then go check some other sites for their comparison prices and RRP values.
unbeatable? really..??

Trance 2 - gold!
Having started mountain bike riding only 3 years ago, I have really enjoyed the fitness and recreational aspects of riding the trails. I started with a second hand 2008 Specialized Expert Stump jumper which I rode for a few years and I learnt the basics of riding, it was a great bike to start on. After talking to a few blokes I bump into at the dam, I was convinced to upgrade to something more up to date. After much research and discussion, I decided on the Giant Trance 2 27.5, I must say, its a magnificent bike.

More signs needed on Gahnia and Serrata
I think there needs to be a few more signs put up on these tracks , Gahnia needs one at the exit telling people that is oneway and also a MTB track and the Serrata needs the same at the intersection of the walking track halve way down.
Saw some old digger walking up the track the other day and turned around and there is absolutely no signs saying not to walk it. He may have escaped the retirement village .

Manly Dam update for 09 Jan
Still very dry except for the creek crossing. No major obstacles or dramas. Note it's very sandy on the fire trail between the parkway and the creek so take a bit of care.
The short pinch before the golf course crossing seems to have more tree roots exposed every day.

Bantry Bay update for 07 Jan
2 laps of Gahnia and one of Serrata today. Someone has put a rock on the roll-off exit on Gahnia to dumb it down. It makes it a little bit easier but is off putting at first. Serrata seems a breeze now after Gahnia. I still haven't done a clean run on Gahnia yet, as I always seem to do 1-2 dabs in different places, mainly on the pinches. Serrata is very dusty, causing a lot of sliding around corners and rock faces on the downhill. Did 25 Km's just around these tracks and Possums - we are all very fortunate to have this. Thanks builders and NPWS. Very hot to be riding today.
