Manly Dam update for 05 Nov

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

What a difference a week makes!

Lots of changes in the last week or two since I last did a normal lap.

All the dutch ladders are now gone except one last piece on the long climb section. All replaced by rock armouring.

They're building B lines around the two step ups - the one with the metal post they are building a line to the right of it next to the tree. And the step at the top of the old dutch ladder section, they have cut a deviation through the bush on the right to avoid it. Both not rideable yet.

The descent to the creek looks like they have scraped a lot of the loose sand off and built a couple of new water bars. Still a little bit squirrelly in places but 90% of it now is just FAST!

On the other side, vomit hill is now a sandpit and almost impassable in places. I struggled up and got bogged halfway, then struggled up the next half. Last week it was like a road so I'm not sure what happened there. It looks like they dumped a truckload of sand on it in the last week. After that its just flat as a road all the way to the 19th hole....

Had a chat to the TrailScapes guys out working and they said Bantry Bay is VERY close now!

Sella Ronda

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Planning next years euro trip and it seems like I'll be able to get some time in the Dolomites late july and it is time to lock in some places.

I think I'll be able to get one day dedicated to MTB and after a little bit of googling it seems like the thing to do is Sella Ronda.

A couple of questions to anyone who has done it.
1) Is Sella Ronda the thing to do or are there more scenic / better tracks in the Dolomites
2) As I understand it, it is a guided tour going up in gondolas and down on two wheels - right?

Hi Anyone done the Husky 100 on a SS? I'm thinking about giving it a go and was wondering what the best gear ratios would be?

Organised ride liability

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I recently read an article where 2 mates were riding together on road bikes when one of them hits an object on the road causing him to crash into his mate, the mate suffers a back injury etc. seeks legal advise and sues his mate for negligence, the case goes to court and the Judge rules in his favour awarding the injured mate $1.7m...which brings me to my hyperthetical question.....If I intend to ride say the Oaks trail and put a post up here inviting for others to join me and during the ride someone hits a waterbar goes OTB's breaks their neck am I liable ?

Stans Rim tape width

Hi Guys

I have a set of bead hookless carbon TLR rims I'm looking to build up into some race wheels. I'm just wondering what width tape is recommended for an internal width of 22mm? By the time the channel is taken into account, the perfect fit tape width between goes up to 23mm, but the tape is only available in 21mm and 25mm widths.

Thanks for your advice Smiling
