Highland Fling (Half) - equipment list

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I am entering my first mountain bike event, the half fling and have a couple of simple questions.

I generally do a lot of road riding so my fitness is about right, and I ride trails, approximately once a month. So I certainly wont be the most technical out there, but should have decent fitness to carry me through.

With this being my first event, I'll be riding an aluminium, hard-tail 29er.

Lost lense- Snives Sniggle/Muppet Show

Morning all-
i know its a slim chance- but if someone happens across a lost clear (photochromic) lense somewhere on the snives sniggle/mupet show between the nursery entrance and the forest way exit. I imagine it'll be on one of the sections with branches at eye level.

It was lost this morning(23/10/14)

Cheers

Manly Dam update for 22 Oct

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Green/Open

The rock cutters have smoothed the fire-road descent and the main climb after the creek for 4WD fire access. These parts are no longer technical at all, and are incredibly sandy and loose so beware when trying to follow your usual lines. Such a shame as these were the best bits of the dam (especially the climb).

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.
Please do not post comments with such information - post a new update with the link above.

LCNP tracks

I’ve recently started a new job at Macquarie Park, near to LCNP. I know there are a fair few tracks in here (I’ve ridden them in the past, albeit led by others and in the dark!).

I wanted to see if someone who knew the tracks well (S/T and F/T) might be able to give me some good pointers (or preferably show me!). I work on Talavera Rd so would be looking to start at the entrance near the end of the road. I’m on an AM bike some if possible something that would give that a bit of a workout but happy with anything.

Happy to chat over PM.

Manly Dam Downhill ruined

Guys,

Went for a whip around the dam today but when I arrived at the fire trail downhill much to my dismay the fire trail has been ruined.
When I say ruined I mean the fire trail is in the midst of bring re-graded.

Be careful at the moment it is very loose and dangerous.

So pissed off.

Wanted: Dead Garmin Edge 500

So I had a stack with a new barfly Garmin mount and the damn thing was too strong and broke the mount on the back of my edge 500. I can still mount the edge but it's a bit loose so have taken to holding it on with a hair tie.... And it's going to fall off at some point.

So wondering if anyone has a dead Edge 500; smashed front screen, drowned in water, etc that they want to get rid of. I'm hoping I'll be able to pull it down and put my device into the case to restore it.

PM me or reply to this message if you can help.

Thanks

I'm after some knee pads

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi all,

I've only got 7 weeks left in Oz before I return to the UK and although I'm posting my bike back home I am trying to cut down on what extra stuff I need to take. I've also already got knee pads back in UK (I didn't bring them as I never planned to buy a bike out here). As such I don't really want to buy new for such a short time and then have to try and flog them.
