Congrats Jason English: Solo 24 World Champ for the 5th time!
Racing often takes a bit of a back seat here. We're a community site, mainly here to have fun, but recognition of some sporting feats in the world of MTB really have to be congratulated.
Over the weekend Jason English became the Solo 24 Hour World Champion... for the 5th time! For much of the race Jason was out front but victory was sealed a couple of hours from the end when he put in a two blistering laps, destroying all hope of a catch the second place rider may have been holding onto. Boom!
Special mention to Brett Bellchambers too, for taking out the SS category.
There are many new recreational riders online here, so for those that don't know, this event works as so: Midday on Saturday one steps onto a MTB. They ride round a circuit (this year in Fort William, Scotland) until midday Sunday. Non-stop. Solo. The rider to finish the most laps in the shortest time before that Sunday cut-off wins. Yes - 24 hours without a break - Insane!

Jason English does it again...
Is it me, or did English crossing the line with 25 minutes left to race mean it's impossible for him to be caught? The man's a machine!

* P2 would have to ride a 42 minute lap to be able to go out and even attempt to catch. Simply not going to happen.

North Turramurra update for 12 Oct
Aside from the smoke that is now very thick around the area from all the hazard reduction burning, please be aware of several trees down along the North Turramurra fire road between the Clissold Road exit and the Stonecrop Road exit.
Those who know that section should recognise the following locations:
- medium size tree across 2/3's of the fire road half way down steep descent with water bars after you turn left at the McRae Place exit,
- Massive tree completely across fire road at base of steep climb just after Lover's Jump creek,
- medium size tree across 2/3's of the fire road half way up short mild climb just before Stonecrop Ave and Gwyder Ave fork.
- other debris at random locations that is either somewhat annoying or could damage a derailleur if you're unlucky and some sand patches where I've never seen sand before.
I did notice some scratches on top of the massive tree at Lover's Jump creek, which I assume were from the chain rings of several brave souls. If anyone did actually ride over it without dismounting, I tip my hat to you sir or madam. I didn't even bother to climb over it. Just walked around one end with the bike.
stay safe people.

Maestro murder...detectives required
Hey guys so I'm in the midst of one of my most ambitious projects to date - replacing all the picot bearings on my 2008 Giant Reign. So I've got it apart as shown in the photo EXCEPT! for the middle linkage thing. The thru-bolt is out, so the piece is loose but I can't get it away from the frame! I've been pretty gentle so far because I don't want to wreck anything, but is there any trick to getting this away from the frame? Basically it seems I need to flex it open and get it around the frame, but easier said than done! Thanks for advice from anyone who's been here...

Manly Dam update for 11 Oct
There's a fair bit of smoke from the Golf Course through to Heartbreak Hill and along the fire trail. Ok for a bit of poor man's altitude training but if you like clear air maybe look elsewhere.
There are signs up saying the Dam will be closed tomorrow (Sunday) for back burning.
Also I nearly ran over a red bellied black snake just as you go down then up before the Golf Course sniggle.
