Manly Dam update for 22 Jul

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

I did two easy laps in the rain at sunrise this morning. Lost my "performance eyewear" on the first loop so I went around again hoping to find them, but I never did.

The track is wet but quite rideable. No puddles to speak of. Not muddy yet. Slippery on some of the timber sections.

Olympic MTB times and coverage

Anyone not living under a rock will know that thing in London is starting soon. However did you know the men and women's MTB events won't happen till the last 2 days. So we have to face countless days of running, jumping and gay wrestling* before we get to the fun stuff.

Woman
Sat 11th Aug 21.30 (AEST)

Men
Sun 12th Aug 22.30 (AEST)

I'm going to take a punt and say these will not be televised by any of the local networks. The BBC however are streaming every single event live on the iPlayer - if you know how to get it.

Enjoy!

* I've heard Gazza is looking forward to this

Suggestions on a cheap SS road/cross with drop bars and mech discs

I am in need of a new commuter. I am thinking a road/cross geometry frame and fork, with drop bars, mechanical discs, threaded bottom bracket and single speed.

Id rather not, but chain a tensioner may be acceptable if it doesnt have horizontal drop outs.

Any suggestions?

Cheers!

Is it dry anywhere around Sydney this am?

Hello,

I was hoping to go for a ride today and tomorrow somewhere around Sydney (Ourimbah, Yellomundee, Mt Annan or Appin), but it is raining of course in Sydney... By looking at the BOM Radar screen the rain seems to be affecting Sydney and north of Sydney areas only - can someone please confirm if one of the tracks above is likely to have stayed dry?

Cheers,
Zoltan

Manly Dam update for 19 Jul

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

I'm getting very close to calling it green, but there is still a bit of water about and mud. And although a riding line is appearing through some sections, it is still very rough in other places with loose rocks and eroded lines. So amber for Friday.

But it is drying out noticeably every day.

I reckon it will be green for the weekend - if it doesn't rain Eye-wink
