Awaba Training Laps

When:
Sunday, 1 July, 2012 - 08:00

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Awaba State Forest
Meeting Point:

Just up Jenkins Road from corner with Mount Faulk Road.

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

Heading to Awaba on Sunday morning for some training laps in preparation for next weekends enduro at Mt. Annan. Pace will be comfortable but pushing a little harder than a normal social ride. Having said that, the first lap will be just checking out the track before upping the tempo.

Everyone welcome.

Note - When I say training laps I'm not the quickest in the world especially when climbing Eye-wink My quickest around the red loop is low 42 mins so I'll be aiming for anywhere between this and 45 mins per lap. If you're quicker then that then I need to learn from you Eye-wink

Manly Dam update for 28 Jun

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

There are "closed" signs up so the track may well be closed - although Warringah Council's Manly Dam web page says it is open.

But if you were to ride past the signs you might find the track is generally "damp" in many parts rather than wet, with avoidable puddles.

  • The usual permanently wet sections - after Manly Vale School, after Curl Curl Creek, and up to Allambie Shops, are all wet but rideable.
  • The quagmire before Southern Cross Drive is quite a big quagmire.
  • And the timber section at the end is slippery.

Your bike will need a wash and some drivetrain adjustments after a ride in the present conditions.

Conclusion: I recommend you consider Manly Dam "amber" until further notice.

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

What would you say?

Hi all

If you had a meeting with the State Government and Sydney Northern Region Councils what specific things would you ask about or what ideas would you put forward?

TrailCare has these contacts or already has meetings scheduled. What would you like us to discuss?

Things like more trails are obvious and generic. What specific things do you want to put forward?

Can a cheap power meter be a good power meter?

Been thinking of structuring my training for a while now and maybe getting a coach to take it to the next level but have been put off by the price of power meters.
Then i came across this,
http://www.cyclocrossworld.com/cycleops-powercal...
Surely, even if it's not completely accurate, as long as it stays in a constant state of innacuracy it should do the trick???
Your thoughts please?

Lapierre and RockShox launch auto-adjust suspension

Apparently senses fork movements and combines that with speedo and cadence inputs to adjust shock damping

what a revelation

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

So after a LONG wait my new bike that I have been lusting for since it was first released back in 2011 arrived on Thursday.
The bike in question is the Cannondale Scalpel 29er. Carbon frame , carbon lefty fork, mix of XT and XTR parts finished off with Cannondale's Hollowgram SI Cranks and a nice set of wheels!
I have been riding a hardtail exclusively for a good 6 years now and thought there was not really a great need for a dually for most of the riding I do, yeah sure they have more comfort but at the price of weight.
