Died in the ar$e
Was hoping for a sub 30 first lap, but lost too much time between the 19th hole and the labs... Ended up with a 31 even. Found a better rhythm for my second lap, but was pretty well knackered.
Trails at Oxford Falls
It's been a few years since I last rode at Oxford Falls. Now I hear that the natonal parks people aren't too happy about many of the trails there, and have put up 'no cycling' signs.
That's rather unfortunate, because, whilst I also know that they are trying to build something at Bantry Bay or Stringybark Ridge, that will take a very long time to get approved, let alone constructed

Getting closer!
Did 2 laps of the red loop and was feeling good so pushed hard for a hot lap on the blue loop. Probably not the best preparation as halfway around I was really feeling it in the legs. Future goal is to nail this one at 28 minutes on the nose

Lap 3 was the hot lap. You'll notice that my actual riding time was 27:50. I wasted 45 seconds by 1) Pulling myself and the bike out from a tree and 2) Spinning out on the pinch climb coming out of Salad Bowl
Track conditions were absolutely perfect
The strangest thing....
I was riding up on Red Hill this arvo near the single track section....and I noticed a bike on the side slightly off the path. It is a dark blue hardtail, quite old and even had a chain tied around the bike (I think near the saddle). I thought someone was doing some exploring and was just leaving their bike there. Did a few loops and then we bumped into another MTB rider just off the end of the single track section. We chatted briefly and he mentioned that the bike had been there for a month now.
Red Hill update for 07 Jan
Largely dry now, big puddle still in evidence near the top...quite pleasurable. Saw 5 MX bikes on top....

Lane Cove National Park update for 07 Jan
Ride through from De Burgh's Bridge to the top of Devlins Ck track yesterday (Friday). Surprisingly good given the deluge on Thursday night. Still a bit gluggy just after the hike a bike section and there are a few wet bits elsewhere, but after sun and wind today it should be even better.
