CareFlight Woodford to Glenbrook Classic 2014

Well what a day. I set myself 3 goals for this event, 1. Start the race incident free, 2. Finish the race unbroken and bike in good shape and 3. Don't come last.

This was my first official race since starting up MTBing in Mar 2014, and last time I did something like this was on motocross bike a decade or so ago. I tookup MTBing to get some fitness and to clean/clear the lungs of 38yrs of smoking and more than happy with the result. If nothing else this will give me a basis to start with.

Woodford weather

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

While I was searching for more weather info before we went of for the Care Flight Oaks trail challeng I found this site.It seamed that the main weather web pages don't have a weather station but relied on springwood and katoomba.
If anyone is thinking of doing the oaks trail but want true weather this seams like a good tool.
enjoy

Best clothing for the Careflight Woodford to glenbrook ride

My son (14 years old)and I are going to do the Careflight fun ride on the weekend. I have brought him a pair of gloves and a under helmet bike cap. We both have a suitable base layer, I am wondering what would be the best amount of cloths to wear? I am trying to convince him to wear my second pair of bike pants under his boardies but he believes they aren't cool enough.

Friday afternoon. Brief shower dampened the track a little but there are a few slick spots to watch for (particularly the entry to the second bridge). Otherwise, as always, a good fun ride.
