Mount Annan Botanic Garden update for 02 Dec

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Status:
Red/Closed

Botanic Gardens FB states the track was closed 2nd December due to rain. Track was a little worse for wear after Jetblack 24 so the rain will help it all settle down a bit. Breif shower through area on night of 2nd - check FB for status for 3rd onwards (forecast however shows afternoon showers all week).

LBS - good customer service still exists

XT master cylinder / lever failed (piston jammed on) on my Rumblefish not long into a ride on Sunday which locked the rear brakes on. I had to release the banjo fitting to get mobile and without rear brakes the 435m decent from Brokers Nose (Illawarra Escarpment) to Bulli was "mildly interesting" but that is another story.

Does anyone know of a new entry point to the track .
the new land owner near the start point at Elizabeth Macarthur Reserve has bulldozed the entry and is fencing it.

Mount Annan Botanic Garden update for 22 Nov

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Status:
Green/Open

Rode early Saturday morning (benefit of being a "Friend of the Garden"). 80% of the new section on the advanced loop is open - is soft and loose and will need a few thousand wheels to bed it down (Jetblack 24hr?). New section cuts out 500m of the fast, rough downhill firetrail and replaces it with more than a kilometre of single track - good mix of dirt jumps and berms. Still some work to go with a big north-shore style berm / wall under construction and another 300m or so of extra single track.
New section keeps with the nature of the rest of the track. Good fun but lots of short sharp climbs.

Manly Dam update for 01 Nov

Manly Dam

Amber/Some Issues

Half of the ladder is now replaced by TrailSpaces and is more challenging that before...especially with the loose sand still there. When the loose sand goes in the next couple of storms and the trail settles I expect it to be much better than the ladder.

Descend and ascend around the creek is still very loose after the grading a couple of weeks ago. Take care and slow down when cornering. I'm hoping that TrailSpace will be taking part in the development of the fire trail section but so far it it is just council workers and the "Soil Conversation" team there.

Quick and kinda urgent question - tubeless conversion

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hey guys, pulled my tyres off to do a tubeless conversion, and am a bit stuck. I've never even seen the inside of a rim before so this may be a massively stupid question, but I don't want to proceed til I've got an answer.

I have the notubes sealant, valves and a roll of 25mm rim tape. My rims are 20mm (flat bit in the centre, not outside width) and I'm fitting a Minion to the front, High Roller to the rear.
