Ourimbah State Forest update for 09 Mar

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Status:
Green/Open

Super sticky and nice at the moment. There is a hazard though after the first down section of the roller coaster. Large tree has fallen over the track- it's a chainsaw job. Someone has attempted to put some smaller logs in the run up to it, but I still bashed my large ring on it going over. Be careful if you go ripping down there.

Rode on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Track is the best it has ever been as the trail fairies have been making subtle improvements and is the surface is mostly very grippy at the moment. Have fun.

Ourimbah State Forest update for 28 Feb

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Wet wet wet. I couldn't say it is worthy of being closed. There are large puddles in every depression out there and it's very wet and slippery. Stay off the wooden berm on the XC course and Browns is super slippery as all the rocks are wet. Stick to the fire trails if you are needing to go for a ride.

Camden River update for 18 Feb

Recent rain has compacted the loose dirt and made the trail real nice to ride. The roots are still a bit slippy. Had a real close encounter with a massive brown snake at the tracks so watch out the local reptiles.

Custom hardtail creation

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi all,

As a bit of a side project in the future I'd love to build myself a custom XC racing hardtail with an emphasis on being ultra light weight

for those who have undertaken a project or who have an idea about products out there, i'd love to hear what you would use in your opinion for the components, gearing, brakes, tyres, rims, frame ETC

Price range doesnt matter as atm its all a dream i would just like to hear what you would all suggest given the wide range of products out there

Cheers,

[Mod. moved to MTB Gear]

Ourimbah State Forest update for 07 Feb

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Status:
Green/Open

Rain hasn't affected the XC course at all. There is heaps of leaf litter all over the tracks at the moment due to the scrub turkeys and whip birds scratching around which makes it a bit slippery.
There are also some dislodged rocks along the first section of the roller coaster so be careful if you go pinning down there.
