Port to Port
I am doing a new event end of May called Port to Port, it's a 4 day ride starting at Port Stephens and ending at Nobbys beach Newcastle. Unfortunately I can only do the last 2 days, Sat - Briar Ridge Winery to Richmond Vale (60km), Sun - Cams Warf to Nobby's Beach (45km). I have not done any rides in these areas, can anyone shed some light on what I might expect?

Mount Annan Botanic Garden update for 03 May

Tiler Licence Number Check, Online?
Need some help with selecting the right tradie for a job. Is it possible to check online where you can see if a tiler is licensed and currently valid? Is a licence even required in this case?

Overhaul or upgrade Tektro Novela brakes?
Hey guys,
The bike I've got at the moment (Fuji Nevada 3.0) has Tektro Novela brakes. They are pretty poor, I can't lock the back wheel no matter how hard I try and on a moderately steep slope front+back brake won't bring the bike to a stop. When pulling hard on the levers there is a spongy feel, as if the cables are stretching.

Tyres for 26" Fuji Nevada 3.0
I'VE COMPLETELY EDITED THIS POST, I had a change of heart I was going to buy a 29er but $400-500 would get me a bike almost identical to what I have now just with slightly bigger wheels, so now I'm just looking for good 26" tyres to fit put on my current bike as it has road tyres on at the moment and I want to play in the dirt
I am in Newcastle, my closest trails seem to be rocky/gravelly hard pack, also I will be riding the bike ~8km each way on the road from home to the trails and back.
Any advice on a set of tyres for a beginner on this bike would be greatly appreciated

Kincumber Reserve update for 20 Apr
Spent a couple of hours touring the various trails from the top - just a few little puddles. The downhill from just north of Colin Watters lookout which leads into Torulosa FT is fast, fun and challenging - just make sure you duck low under the fallen tree near the bottom. The 7 minutes down is worth the 20+ minutes / 140m climb back to the top - I did it twice.

Camden River update for 19 Apr
Watch for the tree across the track at about the 4.5km point - needs a handsaw and 15 minutes to clear - otherwise track is in good condition. Trail fairies are continuing their work making the track better and more interesting - thanks.

Mount Annan Botanic Garden update for 18 Apr
Open with no moisture anywhere. Some spots have a layer of fine dust over the clay base which sees the grip level change unexpectedly - makes it interesting (read that as "inspected some trees") in some of the faster sections.

Royal National Park update for 16 Apr
Just rode all around today. All tracks seem to be open.
Generally good conditions with some a few huge puddles, most of which were easily ridden around. There were a couple that had to be ridden through (at the edge) without too much trouble.
