Glenrock State Conservation Area update for 15 Oct

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

The rain on Sunday night has done well to dampen the loose surface, nice and grippy now for most of the single track. A short lap of Kennys > Paddock > BJs > Hang Ten > Y.Trail up through Easy Way Out has some puddles in all the usual low spots, not enough to be red and should be perfect with a warm day today.

Warners Bay update for 10 Oct

Warners Bay
Status:
Green/Open

Mum always told me not to do anything strenuous immediately after eating, but this afternoon I couldn't resist. With a large bowl of Spagbol tucked away and the daytime heat receding I went for a lap over to Warners Bay. The trail is in great nic with just a sprinkling of fallen branches to crunch over. The GNW has some great berms developing next to the golf course and nice rooty drop offs into rutted track to test your bike's travel. Stopped to let a moto go past and was glad that he would have cleared the track of any lingering snakes.

Glenrock State Conservation Area update for 04 Oct

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Just received some great news from the NPWS. The assessment and safety works have been carried out on Snakes and Ladders, Hang Ten and on Gun Club Road.

So, as of now the park os officially open for cycling. As talked about before though, the Yeulabah Management Trail, Lower Section of Easy Way out (the management Trail to the creek) and Quarry Loop will remain closed for a while longer.

The NPWS asked to forward this message;

“Sections of Glenrock State Conservation Area that have recently been closed due to wildfire activity have been assessed for tree fall risk, by suitably qualified NPWS staff, and we can advise that the following tracks and trails have had dangerous trees removed and are now open to the public: Yuelarbah Walking Track; Baileys Fire Trail; Hang Ten Track; Snakes and Ladders Track and Gun Club Road Fire Trail.

The following tracks have been assessed as being unsafe for public use, and will remain closed until 14th October 2013: Yuelarbah Management Trail between Flaggy Creek and Hang Ten Track; Quarry Loop; Lower Easy Way Out/Easement Trail South;
NPWS strongly advise that cyclists, walkers and trail runners remain on formed single track, and do not enter areas impacted by fire off the formal trail network.”

It really would be appreciated if the closures could be observed.

In terms of the DH trails on the south of gunclub road, at this point there has been no assessment done on these trails, and the NPWS has asked us to pass this message on. Signage is up, but it may not stay for the long term.

Discussion on the trail opening is here http://glenrocktrailalliance.com/node/43931

Glenrock is still closed. The NPWS have not notified us that their work is done in reopening Snakes and Ladders, Gun Club Road an Hang Ten.

The aim is to complete the work by tomorrow with only the Yeulabah Trail being closed from then on.

When the NPWS give us the OK, we will advise.
