Simon & Stephe's excellent Rotoruan adventure - 9-16 October
Rotorua
Simon and Stephe are heading to Rotorua to find out what all the fuss is about...
Anyone else going to be there at the same time?
Anyone know any mountain bike riding guys or girls based in or near Rotorua who want to show us what to do (or not to do)?
Any, any other thoughts / tips / tricks?
[don't yet have accommodation, renting a car, flexibility a keyword!]
Oaks up and down Saturday
Glenbrook station carpark.
Meeting at the station carpark... riding up and down the Oaks
I have to start early as I have to be home by 10.30am
The ride will take roughly 3 hours.
Good climbs to test your legs and lungs, finished by a long and fast singletrack(and a bit of road climbing)
Holiday Monday social ride
Red Hill Reserve car park, off Lady Penryhn Drive, Beacon Hill. Another option is to ride over here from Oxford Falls.
Going to explore around Red Hill, all skill / fitness levels are welcome, the more the merrier
Oaks up and down Saturday
Glenbrook station carpark.
Thinking of doing the oaks tomorrow morning. Can go a bit earlier if preferred.
It'll be my first time there in many many years.
IMBA Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day
A trail near you!
IMBA will celebrate its eleventh-annual Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day (#TKMBD) on Saturday, October 4, 2014. This is a great opportunity for you to share your passion for pedaling with kids! IMBA is proud to partner with Subaru of America, the presenting sponsor of Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day.
This is a calendar placeholder only - if you arrange your own kids ride, please post it up as a separate event.
Thanks
Kinross weekend away
The city of Orange is around 4 hrs from Sydney and 3 hrs from Canberra. Kinross State Forest is situated on the northeast edge of town, a 10 minute drive or 20 minute ride from the Orange town centre.
Meet at the Bulgas Road carpark, Western edge of the forest.
Drive out from Orange on the Ophir Rd, before you reach the rubbish tip, turn right onto Bulgas Rd. Follow this about 2km to the forest (the road turns to gravel).
Note that the 'Directions there' google maps link below may not give the best route/destination. It seems that google maps ignores Bulgas Rd when selecting a route and gives the next closest spot. The 'Meeting point' link should be correct.
I need to take a trip to Orange on the weekend on family business, so thought I'd visit the renowned Kinross trails and do a couple of laps (40km?)
If anyone from northern Sydney would like to tag along I'm happy to provide a lift, although Saturday afternoon I need to spend doing some boring stuff in town (assess a house for renovations). Can leave either Friday night or early Saturday.
Heading home straight after post ride tank refill (aka lunch).
Let me know preferences so I can make motel bookings earlier rather than later by Wednesday PM.
✶SOCIAL Nightride✶ @ Terrey Hills
Roundabout near Japanese School, Terrey Hills (end of Echunga road)
It's on again ...SOCIAL Night Ride @ Terrey Hills, Perimeter + Long Trail
This ride starts at 7:00pm at the Japanese School Roundabout (end of Echunga road), to avoid any muddy bits and to get us back in time to get schnitzeling at the Tavern.
The more the merrier.
Rgds, Hans
Saturday social - Manly Dam / Red Hill depending on conditions
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
Saturday morning social ride, all levels welcome, either the Dam, plus some extra single track or Reh Hill depending on the rain / sun this week
Wingello
4Km SW of Wingello village on Caoura Rd there's a small base camp within the forest - seems as good a place as any.
Heading down for the day to get minimum two red loops in before heading back to Sydney. Around 1hr 35min per lap. Have room for other riders and bikes if you need a lift. Will be leaving Pennant Hills at 7am. PM me if you need a lift.
Wylde MTB Trail Community Open Day
Wylde MTB Car park and Trail head is just off Elizabeth drive located next to the Sydney International (Cecil Park) Shooting Centre. The turn off can be found on the left 3km Due west from the M7 Motorway or on the right 600m Due East from Mamre Road.
As many of you know, due to the heavy rain we have been experiencing over the last few weeks Western Sydney Parklands (WSP) Trust management made the unfortunate decision to postpone the official Wylde MTB Trail Community Open Day scheduled last month.
New Date of Community Day
WSP are now pleased to announce the new event date will be Sunday 12 October (12pm to 3pm).
