Do’s and don’ts with regard to mountain biking
Another weekend of great riding around the NB but I have noticed some consistent practices that really give me the sh!ts. Interested in people's views on below.
1)Making A lines into B lines – if you can’t ride the A line, practice, don’t put rocks down or convert it into a permanent B line. Examples include 19th hole roll off and gap jump coming down the new section into the hydro lab at the dam.
Rotorua/MTB holiday advice
It is common knowledge that in order for one to call himself a mountain biker (particularly in Australia), he must make a pilgrimage to Rotorua at least once in his lifetime. Hence when I consider the need for a MTB holiday between the completion of my internship at Christmas and the start of my final year at uni in March, this is naturally my destination in mind.
Thredbo on Giant AthemX
Hi,
I've just got into MTB and bought myself an AnthemX 29er as I got it for great price. Have been riding OMV, Bantry Bay, etc.. am loving the bike, seems way more capable than I right now.
I'm planning to hit Thredbo over summer, and am just wondering if the Anthem with 100mm travel (front and back) is capable of the flow and/or downhill trails.
I imagine the flow trail will be ok, but the downhill trail looks quite severe. I don't imagine I'll be attacking these with too much speed either.
Rotorua - Taniwha National DH and other trails to be logged starting next week!!
See Rotorua Mountain Bike Club - Whaka Forest Harvesting
Logging will kick off next week and will run until November.
- Bunny Jugs 2, and the lower section National Downhill will be logged out. They will disappear as we know them forever.
- Permanently Closed during this period will be all the DH trails below Hill Rd and Bunny Jugs 2.
Sunday Riding
Can anybody tell me whether the trails are OK around Terrey Hills in terms of wet? Was thinking about doing some St Ives, Oxford, Red Hill, Bantry, Cascades tomorrow morning. Don't mind if they are wet but if they are small streams I'll probably give it a pass. Thanks in advance.
URGENT someone with a spare bike in SYDNEY!!
Ok so its not that urgent, but I'm looking for someone with a spare bike to hand who would like to show a pommy around the Sydney trails. I've moved here from england and couldn't bring my bike, which I'm gutted about because I already miss it. I'm mostly an xc rider, quite experienced so I can take on fairly difficult stuff. Im 22 and reasonably fit, so im up for long rides. But I'm happy to go at any pace, I just want a ride! Let me know if you can help.
Cheers, lewis
Bike Insurance Claim Times - Experiences Please
Hi Folks,
My bike was stolen and I have a claim in with No Worries Insurance. I submitted the claim (with all required documents, police report etc) 2.5 weeks ago and they still have not got back to me. I have been calling every couple of days for the past week, and they keep saying they are waiting to hear back from the underwriters.
Am I being impatient or unreasonable?
What have others experienced through companies like Velosure or others?
Thanks
Ian
Cycleops trainer warranty
More of a rant to let off some steam than anything else, but I thought that someone else might benefit if it helps them make a better purchasing decision when they're looking for a trainer. Grab a coffee and read on if you dare.
Where to Jump?
Hello everyone. I want to work on my jumping technique so i can start hitting bigger stuff but not sure where to go practice. I need to work my way up. Does anyone no of a good place to do this? Could a nice pump track suffice?
Cheers,
Jono.
Magpies
Plenty of Magpies about, I've been swooped three times by different birds in the last two days.
