Bike warranty

Could anyone tell me if professionally painting your bike would void your frame warranty?
I'm talking about painting the bike when new, custom paint job.

Camelbak Palos (bum bag) what are your thoughts?

I've just been reading about Camelbak's new pack.

I'm trying to transition to riding without a backpack but this could be an interesting alternative.

Buller Accom

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Planning a Mt Buller excursion with the fam + friends to Mt Buller over Easter. Some initial googling to find places to stay points me to a place called Mansfield but it is 35ks from Buller but that seems excessively far away. Are there better options?

Looking for something reasonably civilised that has a roof, walls and some form of device to keep the beers cold.

Would appreciate advise from Buller riders who knows the area.

Also climate, been to Thredbo in December and that was colder than what I thought, is end of March "safe" or is it getting a bit late in the season?

Cheers,

Hi All,

The purpose of this post is to provide a heads up on a little pest I encountered on Saturday afternoon, somewhere around Bantry Bay or the track behind the nursing home that runs onto Allambie Oval.

When visiting the bathroom post ride I found one of these guys with its head burrowed into my upper thigh under my trail shorts.

Another use for shimano SPD pedals

I will have to keep this in mind for the next time a ride finishes with a beer and I am stuck without a bottle opener Eye-wink

Looking for trails/someone to show us around / Sydney/Gold&Sunshine Coast

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi there!

My girlfriend and I are on a three months trip through Australia and NZ. Unfortunately bringing our bikes was no option and I thought three months would be ok without riding... Turns out it's not! Eye-wink
I find myself searching for Australian bike forums every other day.

This might be a crazy idea, but I was wondering if maybe someone would take us for a ride on a local trail? Obviously we'd need bikes, too... But I'm guessing there are rental companies with decent bikes around?! Or maybe someone even has a spare one?!

MTB in Seville Reserve (Carlingford)

I went for a ride in Lake Parramatta and found a number of signs saying that the land is not public and belongs to King's school. Does anyone know if Seville reserve with the maze of good quality single tracks also below to them of if it is perfectly legal to ride them ?
Cheers

Video: 2015 The Fail Awakens

It's that time of year again - time to look back at the comical stupidity of my riding over the past 12 months. I hope you enjoy.

Reverb post stuck

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Upgraded my dropper post to a 150mm reverb stealth.

First ride today, worked fine until almost at the end, it wouldn't come back up. Even pulling did nothing.

Had a look tonight, and managed to pull it out by hand with a little force, but now it won't go down.
I've tried the following:

Bled the remote
Bled the entire system
Topped up the air
Let all the air out
And generally checked over everything I can think of, still no joy.

The system bled fine, and the remote had a reasonable amount of pressure to it.

Any ideas?

Big thanks for getting me home!!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I came off my bike around lunch time yesterday on Serrata track.. gave myself a concussion and plenty of other cuts and bruises.

A good samaritan (think it may have been Gus) has helped me get home safely - when my wife was able to take me to the hospital.

If it was anyone here, or they know anyone who it was, came across me yesterday - I want to say a VERY BIG THANKYOU for your assistance. I dont even remember being on my bike, let alone the details of what happened. Without your help i don't think i would've been able to get home at all.

Garmin Segments

Hi All,

I have a Garmin 510, its software is all up to date BUT.....it is no longer recognizing segments that I ride. It used to, but for some reason it has stopped. When I finish a ride where I know I have passed through segments that either I have created or others have it says "no segments were crossed".

Any ideas or help????

Kiwarrak trails (Taree) - updated signage

Just in time for the holidays: the club has recently updated signage for several riding loops which all start at from the main car park. One of these incorporates the classic Chocolate Foot race loop and is 13kms of flowy fun. An info board outlining the different loops can be found in the main carpark. So come ride Kiwarrak!

The entrance to the main car park can be found at the "Lantana Crossing Road" sign, located on the south side of Bucketts Way at south Taree, 4-5km west of the Pacific Highway.

Happy Holidays from the Mod

The obligatory Long Track photo

Once again it's that time of year where we will all (well, mostly all) have time to get out on the trails and enjoy whatever form of riding it is we love.

Big shout out to all those who showed up to the Xmas ride recently and made it what sounds like a big success. And thanks to the other Rob for organising. Don't forget anyone can post up their social rides in the calendar for more of the same.

More thanks go to Tristan for his insightful post about the morning. Very good points for all those who have forgotten about the true meaning of Xmas... erm... I mean MTB Eye-wink

So, whatever your plans this holiday season, wishing you happy trails. Enjoy & stay safe.

Cheers Smiling

STOLEN
NORCO Sight 2014 7.1 Carbon with modifications see below... thanks!!!

Stolen this am 22.12.15 suspect professional as extremely quickly from locked car parked for moments while other goods loaded (via smashed window and run). This is a 2014 carbon Sight 7.1 27.5, with a few modifications to distinguish it. There are a few of these kicking around, but this one looks a lot burlier with 35mm blank carbon rims on hope hubs, see pic.

DBInline rear shock
Carbon Light Bicycle Rims on Hope hubs (standard build is narrow alloy Sunringles on DTSwiss hubs)
carbon hangers (easton haven)

Silly bike laws! What's the impact to MTB?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

If you have't seen Duncan Gay's latest bright idea read here.

http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/cyclists-forced-to-car...

What's the impact for MTB though? Many of us ride on public roads to get to trails or connect rails together. I don;t think any of us would ever head out on on MTB ride without a helmet so that should;t be a problem.

What about pure fire trail rides though... or even events that use management trail?

Saddles

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I broke the saddle on my Scalpel awhile back, and bought a WTB Silverado carbon as a replacement but I can't get on with it. Nice and light but too firm for my soft butt.

The Prologo X8 that broke was very comfortable, but having broken one I'm a bit wary of getting the same again. Spesh are great for road use and I have one on the roadie but a bit wide for mtb riding for me. Anything over 135mm and I bang up my inside thighs too much.
