Thredbo on Giant AthemX

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi,

I've just got into MTB and bought myself an AnthemX 29er as I got it for great price. Have been riding OMV, Bantry Bay, etc.. am loving the bike, seems way more capable than I right now.

I'm planning to hit Thredbo over summer, and am just wondering if the Anthem with 100mm travel (front and back) is capable of the flow and/or downhill trails.

I imagine the flow trail will be ok, but the downhill trail looks quite severe. I don't imagine I'll be attacking these with too much speed either.

Looking to hire junior sales person for a software company

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Yeah, I know it's a bit 'out there' for a mountain bike forum, but desperate times call for desperate measures. The company I work for is looking to hire a junior sales person and we are struggling to get much interest from suitable applicants so I am casting the net pretty wide. The company is www.intechsolutions.com.au and if you are interested (or know someone who is) you can send a resume to me at [email protected] and I will send you a copy of the formal position description. If you are still interested then I will add you to the candidate list.

Front wheel 15mm to 12mm adaptor

Anyone know where I can get a 100mm through axle adaptor to convert from 15mm to 12mm so I can use a set of wheels on two different bikes

Which Tyres??

I know this has probably been done to death on this forum but I thought I'd go for an update.

It'll soon be time to change my Michelin Dry2 Reinforced tyres (26"x 2.3"). These have been great for the KC trails for climbing and downhill and have never split nor caused any punctures but the tread is wearing.

I'd like to go for something that suits the KC trails. Fully loaded, I'm about 90+ kilos and ride with circa 7" travel front and back using Mavic EX729's. My current tyres are about 675g each and I run tubes (not going tubeless any time soon).

Thank you Lithgow council

We are often quick to grumble about things and I know I have been critical of council in the past but I have had some very positive dealings with them recently and with recent happens in other areas with land managers shutting trails I want to put this up as a good news story

There is this trail on Hassans Walls (The pottery trail) that starts down an old road, now this road was a bit rutted out, has several old turning circles that were havens for rubbish dumper and recently had been the target of illegal fire wood collect who drive into the bush and drag logs out.

Front QR Safety Recall (USA)

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Below is a preview, click to read the full post

There is a safety recall in relation to the potential for certain types of QR levers to contact a disc rotor if they unlock during operation. From what I have read this can cause the front wheel to lock and I believe a rider was seriously injured as a result in the USA.

This recall appears to be in the USA and I'm not aware of anything in Australia at this point in time but am going to try and get more information tomorrow as I have identified one bike in my family that fails the test.

Boring training alone

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi everyone, i'm fairly new to MTB but come from a triathlon and road racing background.
I guess i'm looking for people to train with occassionly as i work shifts and i'm on a difficult shift pattern. I ride between 80-220kms a week mostly road and always on my MTB, i've decided i would be tackling port to port in 2016 and now i'm doing some more dirt and trying to get some technical skill in the bush, i live in Lake Macquarie and keen to ride so PM me if your looking to go for a ride and you don't mind someone new tagging along.

Tisane trail

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Yesterday in the AM I discovered an unknown downhill trail starting from Tisane Avenue in Frenchs Forest. It is around a 1km or a bit more and it goes straight to the Oxford Falls C3 church. There are some berms and small jumps that I have constructed there.

Anybody is welcome to work/maintain/ride the track and I think this place should be better known for how good it is!

Kids bikes

My 3.5 year old is off the training wheels and riding off road (quite well too I'll proudly add). His current Thomas the Tank Engine bike from Target weighs about as much as a tank engine and I want to get him something a little better. Actually a lot better - hopefully without breaking the bank. He's on a 12" at the moment which is a good size but a small frame 16" would be ok and last him a couple years. What are other little kids riding? After something with a front brake, preferably not a rear coaster, light frame, offroad tyres etc.

Mowbray Park Farm Tracks

I'm looking at heading down to the Rockytrail event at Mowbray Park next weekend and was just wandering what the trails are like there. Are they hilly/flat, technical, open/tight and twisty, rough/smooth etc.

Sunday Riding

Can anybody tell me whether the trails are OK around Terrey Hills in terms of wet? Was thinking about doing some St Ives, Oxford, Red Hill, Bantry, Cascades tomorrow morning. Don't mind if they are wet but if they are small streams I'll probably give it a pass. Thanks in advance.

Looking for somewhere dry to ride this weekend

I have it on good authority that the inland trails are dry, if you are keen to do some DH then come to the state round at Lithgow this weekend

Aside from DH there are plenty of trails around Rydal and Bathhurst too.

Help wanted - Tallboy sizing L or XL

Hi All,
I am hoping someone with a SC Tallboy (2?) in an L or XL can help me with a size decision.
I'm hoping an existing owner with either size can let me try their bike for size.
I'm on the border between L and XL, I'd like to get it sorted out this weekend if possible.
I'm in Lindfield. Please PM me if you can help me out.
Thanks.

Mountain bike access formalised at St Ives Showground

St Ives Showground POM is available.

Mountain bikes rate a mention now and their use of HART and the Mini-Wheels area is confirmed (with the usual get-out clauses), along with investigation of cross-country trails networks subject to sustainability.

Great event on the weekend. Recent man flu and little training meant a very long 100km in the saddle, but unlike my performance i couldn't fault the race organisation.
